Mumbai 24/11/13
Hello friends,
A card of eight races has been framed, with a million as the premier event of the day. Looks like a competitive card and here is my analysis and personal choices.
Race no 1:Class IV(20-45) over 1200 m
Somberero which eventually has the best form coming into this race may not find everything easy here, this horse which was a winner at its last start is no doubt the horse to beat here
The horses that may probably get the better off it are
1)Matrioshka-a consistent performer in its last few starts, now at bottom weight with a pretty decent jockey aboard
2)National Pride-ran last but still 4 lengths behind the winner in the upper class, now demoted with a claimer on top,the distance also shouldn't be a problem.
3)Stolen Relic-Just three starts to its credit and have been consistent enough in all its three starts, with a change in jockey to Sandesh who is now winning at win,has a very good chance to break its maiden status here
The first two horses have performed well in presence of younger horses in their recent starts and the latter has been working well on the tracks oflate. Thus on that count and a positive change of jockey I feel Stolen Relic has an edge to win this race
My Choice:#4 Stolen Relic for win
Race no 2:For class IV horses over 1800 mts
Of the older horses Word of honour which is dropping down in class and putting up some inspiring spurts at the tracks is the one to be noted down,if and only if both the 3 yo's in the field fail should be in the fighting line
But as said before the winner should emerge from this duo of First and only one and Venus Marina
FAOO's debut run as a favourite is best ignored,as youngsters have a capability of showing an improved second career start can't really gauge the ability of this runner with accuracy. But has been working well and recieving weight from the whole field does stand a decent chance to score here
I like to completely ignore that horse too and see Venus Marina as the possible winner from this race, last run over a mile finished third, now over 1800 and looking at the running style and a positive change in jockey stands a very good chance of winning this race.
My Choice:#6 Venus Marina for win
Race no 3:Class III race over 1600 mts
With the withdrawl of Domingo, four 3 yo's take on each other in this mile race.
Montreal which is now in line for the hat-trick is an impressive class IV winner in its last start and has the form coming into this race, can he give weight to his rivals and win is the ?
Analeah on the other hand looks like the horse that I must say is the default contender here, went down to Way out on its last start and now with a step up in distance and favourable weights may well be the horse to be beaten here
Highraz whose last start at Pune I guess in which it played up at the gates and finished fourth over this very class, now with some good prep is pitched in this race, coincidentally in her debut won handsomely over the same distance in this very course,is getting weight from its own age group horses and having run at the KF DERBY at Bangalore and a top jockey to steer her may well win here.
My Choice:#5 Highraz for win
Race no 4:A class II race over 1400 mts
Quite possibly the race of this card, five proven 3 yo's take on each other in this race. I must say don't ever be surprised if any one of the five wins this race as all have something or the other going for them
Dynamo which is a failed fav last time out,now has the weights on its favour, thus have a good chance to score here
Celtic King which finished a far away third to Jeremiah during the Pune derby, now finds itself in class II,and quite possibly has a very good here as it has a positive jockey switch and its mock race would hav stripped it fitter too
Falco Nero and Bombardier have also done well with the latter but for its run in the derby has performed very well before
But my money here will ride on Keukenhof, yes weights are against its favour now but I feel this filly is a class above the rest in this race, her third at the mys 1000 gns is something to note especially when the horse which ran ahead of her Striking winning a classic, has a good form line and can win despite the weight
My Choice:#1 Keukenhof for win
Race no 5:A class I race over 1200 mts
Let me first tell you this race has made me think for about two hours and each time I look at it again and again Many winners pop up at random!
Dancing Phoenix the lone 3 yo in the field is already a winner in class I,and is now eyeing another victory with a step up in distance.
Weizhou and Ishpingo both winners of terms races at Pune can't ignore them too, even if they are not visible at the tracks
Hawaiian Princess actually works out to be the horse that has a very consistent record, have worked its way up
Monza and Dejavu are the two horses that I have finally got into my scrutiny! I like Monza because of its good last run and also its good few spurts
My choice:#6 Monza for win/place
Race no 6:A terms race for 3 yo horses over 1600 mts
Circle of Life from the yard of the most respected trainer takes Murioi donning the silks of the greatest owner Indian turf has ever seen meet each other in the first important race of this season. What a match up! Not to forget Majestic Reward who can surprise with some luck too.
Recent form, weights and a switch to stables first jockey mean Circle of life has got everything going for her.
Murioi was the underdog when he last graded this very track on a fateful eve of feb, rest as they say is history as he conquered the turf by winning the PBMM,then his form went downwards and is now appearing after his rather tame run during the Bangalore Derby.
It is my guess that the rest and subsequent tracks should have helped him regain his lost form and on that account,I believe that this horse has a true test in his hands and in my opinion should be the one who will win here.As this is just a dress reharsal for the 2000 guineas.
My Choice:#1 Murioi for win
Race no 7:A race for 2 yo over 1200 mts
Play Fair and Ravello both have a run advantage and of the two Ravello appeals a lot to me.
Of the horses that are making debut, again Pesi's horse and the Goldie brown horse appeal to me.
Inspite of having stables second jockey on board, have a gut feeling that Fiesty Lass should do well
My Choice:#5 Fiesty Lass for win/place
Race no 8:A race for horses in class v over 1000 mts
Of the older horses Zoe along with Song of Africa appeal
But logically winner should be from the 3 yo's and Blue Bay (the only horse to have seen in the tracks recently amongst the whole field) is actually the default choice here
But Dishkayon has had some forward runs in its career, taking a drop down in distance and may very well be the surprise package here
My choice:Dishkayon for win/place
Day's Best:Venus Marina
Double:Keukenhof-Murioi
Upsetter:Dishkayon/Fiesty Lass
Have a nice day,gamble responsibly
Sirocco nice analysis again, bombay should be nice to you today
ReplyDeleteI like Dancing in class I and Dynamo
Be safe play safe
