Mumbai selections for 01/12/13

Hello friends ,                        A long card of 10 races has been framed for the day, here is my analysis of the races along with my personal fancies  Race no 1:A race for horses in Class II over 1800 mts  The opener of the day has a five horse field, Antonious Maximus  is a horse which reeled off an hat-trick last Pune season and then lost to a stablemate youngster while bidding for a fourth straight win,now its start to finish tactics over this distance may prove to be quite an interesting one in this race  Hidden Goodness  is a class II winner previously and is now seen on demotion with Trevor Pater up on the saddle, again a win looks difficult for this horse in this field  Halle and Honest Pleasure are two horses which have performed very well in the past! The latter especially has been seen to be putting up some nice track spurts and on that count can be a good contender for place  But the horse they all have to beat is Archie ,promoted after her easy win in class III,this fil

Bangalore 1000 guineas day selections

Hello friends,                      The classics have started to roll this winter and we are now at the eve of crowning a champion filly at Bangalore, the classic day card has 9 races and here is my analysis and my personal choices for the day.  RACE NO 1:A race for horses in class IV over 1400 mts (4yo+)  There are two last outing winners here in London Eye  and Distinctive and yet both of them don't inspire me for a win  Thus I believe the race is well and truly between Vista Bella,King of Heroes,Ethophian and Blizzard of Oz.  Ethophian although is working extremely well on tracks is going out with a negative change of equipment! As far the theory of second lifetime run improvement, has a fair chance here although the equipment is a cause of concern  Vistabella  is showing out on the tracks with a stablemate who is two class superior to her, on that note and going by the preparations seems to make a good impact on its first run of this season.  Blizzard of Oz and King of heroes hav

Hello friends ,                         A small card framed for the day,but seems like a competitive card. Here is my analysis and personal choices for the day.  Race no 1:Class V race over 1800 mts  On first view seems like the race is between Tara and Arzaan but I have made it a point to back an youngster even if there is a shimmer of hope  Of the two youngsters Osric  is superior, but the jockey on board is the only concern. But then this horse has raced with some good youngsters and if the jockey can do justice, can win here with some luck  My choice:#1 Osric for win Race no 2:Class I race over a mile  Another classic hopeful sitting pretty on the scales is in the fray. Let him win in cramped odds.  Looks like quite a tussle for the horse that can finish second, take your pick or just enjoy this race but for all academic purposes my choice here is Silver Arrow .  My Choice:#4 Silver Arrow for win  Race no 3:Class IV race over a mile  In what seems like one of the more competitive fiel

Hyd 1000 guineas

There is something striking about this classic race at Hyderabad  Pesi is raiding this time with señora Bella a class 2 runner up  True this horse is fancied and can be done so,but I think this horse winning is not so easy  Especially when so many horses have run close to Amelia are in the fray again  The local brigade has pinned up its hopes on Roses in the bloom and Magical spell  The stamina ? On a Phoenix tower horse yet with an excellent partnership of the jockey-owner combo  MAGICAL SPELL should bring the first classic victory for Phoenix tower or may fail narrowly attempting that  My Choice:Magical spell win 30% place 70%

Murioi

Murioi  proves that class is inherent and permanent where as form is insignificant if class is abundant. I do agree that the competiton was lacking tooth yet for a comeback after such serious setback is commendable. With Alaindair and Silver Arrow as its main possible rivals, the classic scene at Mumbai looks very very interesting.just can't wait let the classics roll!

Mumbai 24/11/13

Hello friends,                     A card of eight races has been framed, with a million as the premier event of the day. Looks like a competitive card and here is my analysis and personal choices.  Race no 1:Class IV(20-45) over 1200 m Somberero  which eventually has the best form coming into this race may not find everything easy here, this horse which was a winner at its last start is no doubt the horse to beat here  The horses that may probably get the better off it are  1)Matrioshka -a consistent performer in its last few starts, now at bottom weight with a pretty decent jockey aboard  2)National Pride -ran last but still 4 lengths behind the winner in the upper class, now demoted with a claimer on top,the distance also shouldn't be a problem.  3)Stolen Relic- Just three starts to its credit and have been consistent enough in all its three starts, with a change in jockey to Sandesh who is now winning at win,has a very good chance to break its maiden status here  The first two horse

Bangalore 23/11/13

Hello Friends ,                          A card of 8 races awaits us for the day at Bangalore,on the outset looks like a decent card, here is my own analysis and my personal fancies for the day.  Race no 1:A class V race over 1200 mts  A typical Class V race to start the proceedings with, all five youngsters here do not appeal to me,the first timer who is running with a claimer doesn't seem to be prepped well Atleast to me and the other four fit into the same bill as well.  Faith and toil  which ran during the Bangalore summer season, where it finished third despite being slowly off, seems to be prepped well recently. With a top flight jockey aboard has a good chance to score here  But am taking a chance on tic tac toe, although I feel the claimer to Suraj Narredu factor as the main reason for that, his recent work at the tracks are good and suggestive of a good show, thus is my choice for the opener of the day  My Choice:#9 Tic Tac Toe for win  Race no 2:Class III race over 1200 mts  On f

Hello friends ,                        A card of 8 races is framed for the day, looks like a decent card with some good races to look forward to.....  Race no 1:A class IV race over 1200 mts  The first race of the day has many 3 yo's and the winner should emerge from one amongst them, going by the trackworks and form Seven of hearts,Aashikara  and Ungooglable  standout, with Glamour Boy and Dofantasy  this race is wide open.  My choice for this race is Aashikara  because it ran in a graded race on debut, then again raced once after that and went into absence for over 4 months, his recent trackworks are impressive and he gets Dashrath Singh  aboard which is a positive switch from his last run, Ungooglable which is also working very well on the tracks and Seven of hearts  who has finished twice second in its career spanning 4 starts may be his serious threats. But I feel he stands a good chance to win here  My choice:#3 Aashikara for win  Race no 2:For 2 yo maidens over 1200 mts  It is pr

Hello friends,                      A small card of seven races, guess the season hasn't picked up yet hopefully from Sunday there should be cards with more than 8 races and 8 runners at a race! Now coming to tomorrow's raceday, seven races are framed and here are my reading of the races with my personal choices  Race no 1:A class V race over 1200 mts  It is pretty much clear that the two top jockeys in Vaile Rouge and Brave Fighter will dictate the following the race, the former is better placed than the latter, the latter has no considerable form to go by and I will end up very surprised if it wins.  This on that note that I guess  Prince Arius whose last three runs were quite decent has a good chance to score here with the claimer on top  My Choice:#5 Prince Arius for Win  Race no 2:A race for maiden 3 yo over 1200 mts  Does Cooji Katrak hold all the aces in this race? And is reckless  finds itself amongst an opposition that it can shoo away with ease ? Fine there are two ways o

Mysore Races 20/11/13

Hello friends,                     The Mysore season which started off last week now has a card of 9 races framed for the day,it will be a long day at office and here is my reading of the races and my personal choices  RACE NO 1:Class V race over 1400 mts  There are quite a number of possible hopefuls in this race, yet with all due respect to others I think the winner should emerge from Penalty Kick,Truthandfaith and Infiniti Thoughts  Penalty Kick gets a switch in jockey to John  and its last spurt was something one can't ignore, placed well in this has a decent chance to score Truth and faith ran a good second to Autumn Red  in its last start during the Mysore Regular season, and on that account of its last run and recent track trials comes into the contention, gets a jockey change to Vaibhav and should run a bold race  However both the horses appeal my interest in this race is on Infiniti Thoughts ,as PASSAGE OF TIME which also runs in this very race had scored a victory after finis

Mumbai races 17/11/13

Hello friends,                         The Mumbai races are all set to start from tomorrow, here are my views and also my personal fancies for the day  Race no 1:For horses in class IV over a mile  In all probability the race in my opinion is between Janis Jay  and Belmont !  Janis Jay comes into this race after skipping the whole Pune season and no summering too at Bangalore, although the horse has a great formline (running second in a graded race) her layoff from competitive racing for such a long time, almost more than 200 days means one has to keep an eye on the weight charts before the race, she is a top contender in this field  However I am rooting for the other horse .i.e Belmont ,a winner over the same class at Pune over a longer distance, two  conditioning runs on the upper class and having a top jockey on board gives him enough reasons to be backed for win  MY CHOICE:#1 Belmont for win  Race no 2:A Race for 3 yo horses only over 1400 mts  Very surprising to find a three horse fie

Bangalore analysis for 15/11/13

Hello friends,                      A card of 9 races has been framed for the day, with a Class I race over 7f as the main race of the day  Race no 1: Class IV race over 1200 mts  A look at the runners of this proves that this race could well be a two horse affair in Feet on fire and Spiritofchartedwell Feet on fire has a good draw and also has a one kg advantage over its prime rival thanks to a claimer on a top  Spiritofchartedwell  has been prepared well if one goes by its tracks and is ridden by a better jockey, the outer draw and a layoff from the track for as nearly as 4 months is a cause of concern  Then there is Oceanic wind  which has had a pretty good weight reducing mission and Rebuttals hope which has won a race during the summer season has had two ignorable runs and is now seen in this race with a modest field  Then to make things complicated there are two 3 yo horses which make a debut and Kimora  amongst the two is the one I expect to put up a bold show.  But amidst all thi

Mysore Races 13/11/13

Hello friends ,                         The Mysore season which is scheduled to start from tomorrow has a fully filled card of 9 races, here is my bit of analysis for tomorrow's races and my personal choices, along with day's best and upset choices  Race no 1:A race for 2yo over 1100 mts  There are not a lot of factors one has the liberty to look into while choosing a horse in a baby race, with all the horses all set to make debut it makes it even more harder to find a winner.  I go by trackworks predominantly in these situations, and while having a look at them I must say Rising Romeo  appeals the most. The fact that he has had a good spurt along with a class III animal makes me believe he is forward and should run a good race. However there are other horses which look like proving me wrong like Silver Oak  and Ultimate princess ,but I am pretty sure that the Romeo  won't disappoint  My Choice:Rising Romeo for win/place Race no 2:Class v race over 1400 mts  This is a race that
