Mumbai 21/11/13

Hello friends,
A small card of seven races, guess the season hasn't picked up yet hopefully from Sunday there should be cards with more than 8 races and 8 runners at a race! Now coming to tomorrow's raceday, seven races are framed and here are my reading of the races with my personal choices

Race no 1:A class V race over 1200 mts

It is pretty much clear that the two top jockeys in Vaile Rouge and Brave Fighter will dictate the following the race, the former is better placed than the latter, the latter has no considerable form to go by and I will end up very surprised if it wins.

This on that note that I guess Prince Arius whose last three runs were quite decent has a good chance to score here with the claimer on top

My Choice:#5 Prince Arius for Win

Race no 2:A race for maiden 3 yo over 1200 mts

Does Cooji Katrak hold all the aces in this race? And is reckless  finds itself amongst an opposition that it can shoo away with ease ? Fine there are two ways of looking at this

1)Reckless ran behind a horse that went on to win another another race, that was ofcourse at a handicap while giving a good 2 kgs to the winner,on that count this is the horse to beat here

2)on the other hand there is Arch Duchess which technically is a maiden had infact won its last race on this track only to be declared null and void during the winter by a widening margin quite interestingly having the same jockey on board in this very distance over the same type of race. Then wen to Bangalore and had a couple of runs at Pune and now returns to Mumbai!

So technically in this two horse race,Arch Duchess would provide more value than the other horse, only keeping in mind of the history behind the horse I feel that Arch Duchess should score here.

My choice:#2 Arch Duchess for Win

Race no 3:A class IV race over 1400 mts

Again I would like to view this race in a manner such that the winner should emerge from either Mauna Kea or Summer Eclipse

Mauna Kea is a winner on debut, then as a piping hot favourite let down a lot of his supporters in its next start, well the very fact that he gets the same top jockey again and now finds himself against a relatively weak opposition would mean that he is the default contender here, yet again though this time I have to say the last run of Mauna Kea wasn't impressive at all

This brings the other horse into contention Summer eclipse which has had a couple of seconds in the last two runs, seen in the tracks and with a better jockey aboard, can make a race out of it.

My choice:#3 Summer Eclipse for win

Race no 4:A race for class II horses over a mile
Aigiaon catches the attention because of its mock race and
Sumo is now running having comedown a lot in the scales thanks to the claimer, the once semi-classic prospect can make the finish interesting, but can it overcome three very very good youngsters here is the ?

Alright the first of the three horses we are going to discuss are

1)Mint Approach-once the vanquisher of the great Alaindair and then found some horse or the other after that, ran with both front running and off the pace tactics at Pune with the same result,as it is now sitting at the bottom of the scales has a decent enough chance to score here

2)The Ministerian-the horse I was waiting to back after its second to To The Manor Born midway through the Pune season and the one I did back for place at the Pune Derby, certainly a horse that has matched strides with the best and its off the pace tactics will suit this track

3)Charlotte Ray-technically not an Indian horse,.i.e not foaled here, rules suggest that this horse should be given a higher rating and thus it was given, had an educational run which was followed by a good improved second run,as it comes from the stables of the master himself, cannot be ignored.

I think The Ministerian appeals good to me but I must say this one is a very open race among the 3 yo's

My choice:#4 The Ministerian for win

Race no 5:A class IV dash over 1000 mts

Eventhough on first look this race looks like a one horse affair with Strategy sitting pretty with a claimer on top,I don't believe that the race would be that easy to decode

Almost all the horses have no recent forward form to go by,and in the mix of it all there is a 3 yo which won on debut and just faded away, can it win here? I would prefer to watch how it performs rather than put my money on it.

The one horse which I think can give a good fight to Strategy is Small treasure which is now recieving a chunk of weight from the former, thus on that account can win here, place looks moral
My choice:#4 Small treasure for win/place

Race no 6:A clas III race over 1200 mts

A very very interesting race this,Dancing Prances the horse which once had the better of Amelia is sitting at the top of this race having run only once in a graded race at Pune, has the support of a top jockey in the saddle

Indian touch after scoring a start-finish victory over a 7f trip earlier in the Pune season then ran in a couple of races along with superior company, the only concern for me is if the distance would suit or not

Brindaban-had scored a start-finish victory in its last start in the lower class, this with a claimer on top,has a very good chance to repeat

Yet the horse that can topple the highly regarded Dancing Prances which is no doubt the horse to beat is Mykonos, now with even more stronger saddle support and a step up in distance should win here in this set, simply because both its victories are bloodless and should improve here yet again

My Choice:#5 Mykonos for win

Race no 7:A class IV race over 1000 mts

Trisara and QuickFire are the two horses that should fight it out here and reasonably so,the favourite's victory in a maiden set was very well earned and will be a tough nut to crack

However something to note is the last spurt of Colorful Prince who is now on demotion from class III,having earlier showing some good spark.

This I am taking a risk here on Colorful Prince only based upon his last spurt his eaier record and a decent jockey aboard

My choice:#2 Colorful Prince for an e/w bet

Days best:Mykonos

Double:Arch Duchess-Summer Eclipse

Upsetter:Colorful prince

have a nice day,gamble responsibly
