Mumbai selections for 01/12/13

Hello friends
A long card of 10 races has been framed for the day, here is my analysis of the races along with my personal fancies

Race no 1:A race for horses in Class II over 1800 mts

The opener of the day has a five horse field,Antonious Maximus is a horse which reeled off an hat-trick last Pune season and then lost to a stablemate youngster while bidding for a fourth straight win,now its start to finish tactics over this distance may prove to be quite an interesting one in this race

Hidden Goodness is a class II winner previously and is now seen on demotion with Trevor Pater up on the saddle, again a win looks difficult for this horse in this field

Halle and Honest Pleasure are two horses which have performed very well in the past! The latter especially has been seen to be putting up some nice track spurts and on that count can be a good contender for place

But the horse they all have to beat is Archie, promoted after her easy win in class III,this filly from the stables of Pesi Shroff with Zervan on the saddle can make it an easy victory here, the only concern if any is will she be able to tackle the trip. I guess she will, also has matched strides with some of the best of her age and now against older horses has a bright chance to win but as odds are too low for comfort I will watch this race without any betting interest

My Choice:#4 Archie for win

Race no 2:A class IV(5yo+) race over 1000 mts

Barring a wild upset, the winner should in most probability be from Rein In Spain,San Rafael or Warrior prince

San Rafael is from the yards of a trainer who specialises in sprint races (something which I have observed,I don't have statistics to back my statement) and seems to be the dark Un here simply because of the fact that it has come down a lot in the scales

Rein In Spain and Warrior Prince have met each other before and on that count it is possible to make a comparison between them.

True that Warrior Prince is having a great switch in jockey but  I guess Rein In Spain should exploit the advantage of the weights claimed by the jockey and the draw and put up a bold show

My Choice:#1 Rein In Spain for Win

Race no 3:A race for horses in class V over 1200 mts

Sea Pearl if we ignore its last run over 1400 mts, appeals the most in this race if one goes by relative recent form

But there is prescence of youngsters especially Traffic Jam and Argyle Pink, catch the eye.

The latter especially has a run benifit where his much talked about stablemate Mauna Kea won, now drops down in grade and distance, may well be the horse to watch out here

My Selection:#6 Argyle Pink for win/place

Race no 4:Race for maiden 3 yo horses over 1400

The Big Bull is a debutant among experienced horses, has a mockrace to its credit and may very well be the choice of many for this race and rightly so.

But I have a very different prespective about this race as Cyclops which is seen to be putting some tremendrous trial spurts oflate has shown some early promise and now if fit is a serious threat to the favourite

But the horse,I would like everybody to have a look at is Ace Fantasy, was campaigned at Bangalore and after skipping an entire Pune season is seen here. Yes the lay-off is a cause of concern,Sovereign Rule's race in which Southern Emperor ran second was this horses last race. Going by that formline and guessing that the horse is fit, this horse is the one they all should beat, place looks more moral but I would try an each way bet on this one

My Choice:#1 Ace Fantasy for win/place

Race no 5:A race for 2 yo horses over 1200 mts

Your Royal Majesty which gets a switch in pilot and also a run benifit is the horse to beat here, his running style suggests that he has a more than good chance in pulling this off

Admiral Gray had a very forward run last time out and an improved effort over that will see him fighting on the post

Of the debutants,Great Gibraltar appeals the most, trackworks are good and the has a top jockey aboard too and on that count stands a realistic chance in winning this race

My Choice:#5 Great Gibraltar for win

Race no 6:A class IV race over 1400 mts

On first look over the recent formlines Glorious Reward,Other Song,Heateave and the older Wish Upon A Star look like the ones that will have a say at the finish.

As the younger horses are preferred,It seems like a matchup between the top weighted Glorious Reward and bottom weighted Other Song. As Glorious reward is already a winner at this very distance over a maiden not so long ago and has the services of a vastly experienced jockey, can get the better of Other Song in this race

My Choice:#1 Glorious Reward for Win

Race no 7:A race for class III horses over 1400 mts

This race is one of the most interesting and competitive races of the day.

First of all the only one that requires some attention of the older lot is Nush, has run a game fighting second to the youngster Falco Nero during the Pune season

Amongst the youngsters Indian Touch,War Horse,Isadoro,Quest for love and Providence all have realistic chances to pull it off

On more scrutiny I believe the race will be between Quest For Love and Isadoro.

My personal fancy is Isadoro simply because I feel its last win was way too easy on the eye and with a switch to the more consistent jockey can deliver once again here on promotion.

My Choice:#7 Isadoro for win

Race no 8:A Terms Race over a Mile

This race is the feature event of the day

Onassis-ran a blinder of a race to defeat the younger horses in its last start, has the form to back and a good rider

Storm Tracker-invincible over 7f and not so over a mile, has a decent chance due to his impeccable consistency

Clinton-Won giving weight to a class I opposition, can it fare well here is the ?

Neona and Rajasthan Royals-has the terms in favour yet jockey capability in a big race like this is a ?

Torolocco-won over a close finish at Mysore, carries the tag of being the vanquisher of In The Spotlight. Has an habbit of running not upto expectations when most expected

Anybody of the above listed horses can win this race but I have different view of this race

The horse I believe that can turn the tables on the rest is Hachiko. Yes had a poor Pune season,so did it have a poor Pune season last year. This horse loves this course and fits in the 'horses for courses' theory. With a top jockey aboard and oodles of class (only hope the horse is fit) can bounce back to old form.

Of the horses I listed above I expect Onassis and Neona to be prominent at the finish

My Choice:#3 Hachiko for win/place

Race no 9:A race for class IV horses over 1400 mts

Some very good youngsters in the fray,Ancient Warrior,Novak,Haunting Moments and Star of Babylon are previous winners and the winner should probably emerge from them.

Star Of Babylon impresses on both its manner of last victory and its latest spurts, should run a very bold race here and win here

Minister is the outsider here

My Choice:#3 Star of Babylon for win

Race no 10:class v race over 1200 mts

Natalian Express,Kaldeno,Magic Vision,Dark William are the horses that seem like having a shimmer of hope in this hopeless race

Kaldeno with better saddle support and age factor seems like the one they all have to beat

My choice:#4 Kaldeno for win

Days Best:Star of Babylon

Double:Rein In Spain-Isadoro

Days best place:Ace Fantasy

Upsetter:Hachiko

Have a nice day,gamble responsibly.

  2. Hello Sirocco, excellent write up.
Its just my opinion , i may be wrong.
In the second race ,Rein In Spain is not the danger .. its San Rafael but i think Warrior Prince is already a winner.
In the third race ,Sea Pearl or Tropical Zone...may be any one of them can win.
In the fourth race ..plz skip or if you like it, then play place only for safe bet
In the fifth race , I agree with you , i m only concern with the favourite.Hedge a small win bet.
In the sixth race , it is open race. Be carefull. But winner within your comments.
In the seventh race ,if you like that much. I would suggest play place to be safe.
In the eighth race , i am with you but still neona can be danger.Or ghatala for ghotala
In the ninth race ,i think i m confused.. will go with your choice..no comments
In the tenth race , i will skip or go with your choice.
    all the best bro.

    1. A rather timid end to an succesful week!

Thunderstrike your Day's Best was a special selection! Takes a special eye to catch that horse kudos.

Youngsters were caught up by the older horses today and that dragged me and lot of others down.
