The Bangalore Oaks Day 03/01/15

Hello Friends,
As time is too short to write a complete writeup of all the races,I have chosen four races for the day and has done a bit of analysis along with my personal choices and investment plan

RACE 3:For 3 yo maidens only over 1200 mts

Of the horses who have had a run in their career,it is the got-abroad Oxford Opinion that appeals a lot. This horse was fancied to do well in the last outing but failed to live upto expectations, now with that benifit of a run and more scope for improvement in its second lifetime start, this horse is one of the main contenders in this race

Speaking about preperation, there are two horses in my opinion that are well prepared and they are Knighthood and Ophelia

Knighthood is out of the freshmen sire Arazan, the dam has thrown runners with early speed and I believe with the preperation the horse will be forward and with the jockey support that it gets just cannot be ignored in this set

Ophelia had been accepted earlier to run but backed off near the gates,it is extensively prepared and if it takes a good jump it can be a live threat to all in this race

Colorato is also prepared well and is having a jockey in fine form in the saddle,is one of the contenders here

Talking about pedigrees, one cannot look anywhere else but at Desert God,this horse is out of a mare who has been a revelation herself and has thrown two classic winners out of her three foals that have raced in India so far,on that account of a good pedigree factor for a debutant and a decent preperation to go by this horse is my personal fancy for this race

My Choice:#3 Desert God Win

RACE 4:A class IV race over 1800 mts

But for Havelock Prince's late surge Anarosa would have shed her maiden tag last time out,now that she is stepping up in distance and is having a change in saddle support, she would be expected by many to defy the minor penalty and shed her maiden status

Androstos seems to be her immediate danger, purely because the horse is taking a huge jump down in class, that is he is coming into this race after competing in a classic. There is a change in jockey to Trevor . On the trial tracks this horses is very impressive and is the main contender for the top spot in this race

And a look at the pedigrees I believe that both Fleet Street and Native Force have a good chance to spring a minor surprise in this race

Native Force who has a run benifit this season, now gets a huge switch in jockey support and a positive change in shoes and I believe that this horse can give a good account of itself here and is my personal fancy

My Choice:#7 Native Force Win

RACE 5:A Terms Race over 1400 mts (Gr.3) [4yo+]

Six horses have been accepted to run here for this newly upgraded Graded race.......

The benchmark for a 7f horse before sometime was Stormtracker, his record over 7f before he went down was ruthless,Speed Six managed to get the better of him when they faced off each other during the Invitation weekend and with a victory in this season behind him,Its Speed Six that is the main contender in this race

Out of the other five horses,It is Arrogant Approach whose manner of victory was so damn pleasing to the eye in its last start,it is taking on classy horses here but cannot be overlooked

I however feel that Acclaimed, who made a not so good start to his Bangalore campaign with a new trainer made an impressive run last time out in a distance that wasn't his known forte last time out. I believe that he is better over this middle distance and an improved performance from him will have a decisive say in this race,as such he is my personal fancy

My Choice:#2 Acclaimed Win

RACE 6:The Bangalore Oaks (Gr.2) over 2400 mts

To be honest with you,The Oaks is always a tricky race simply because of the extra yard that most of the horses haven't gone before. Thus more than anything else the ability to stay the trip coupled with class will decide the fate of this race

During the last five years, there have been winners of all kind, from outsiders to favourites and there is certainly not a pattern that can be used as a tool to make things easy for us.....

Coming to this years field, there are three outsiders in Alameda,Glorious Light and Athens taking on six local hopefuls

Alameda who ran a game race in the Hyderabad's edition of the 1000 guineas,is a got-abroad who is from a stallion who has thrown a versatile line of winners in India.... The jockey on board for this track is a ?

It is my assumption that Glorious Light will be used as a pacemaker by the connections of Athens. But I may be horribly wrong as the genereal perception of Pedigree folks is that the progenies of Arabin Gulf do well over longer trips

Athens, who has won three races in her career between 9f and 10f is one of the few horses to have gone the distance of 2400 mts. She finished third to Holy Bull amidst lugging out during that run. Again a got-abroad filly from an American Stallion this horse has fair credentials to do well here, but then she can be beaten here or in other words her odds does not justify the risk and thus I'm looking elsewhere for value

Of the six B'lore contenders,Connemara and Vivid Impression are two horses that I consider to be very dark outsiders, and as this race is quite open I won't be surprised if they upset

Then there is Majestic Opinion again another got-abroad whose sole victory came in Mumbai.... She looks like the proverbial joker in this race.... Keep an eye

Of the Hidayat Khan duo,who coincidentally are piloted by two top jockeys of the centre,Lucia and Smoking Bell,it is a difficult job to choose one between them. Smoking Bell has been prepared well after her wayward gate jumps and is a live threat in this race, especially with what I have observed a 'witty' jockey in the saddle

Lucia who shed her maiden with a good display of her turn of foot cannot be overlooked too

Finally there is Pure Allure, trained by the 'man to go' as far as classics are concerned.has five starts and has won twice over 1100 and 1200 mts respectively. Again a got abroad who has that latent class factor according to me and is the one they all have to beat in this race

In my personal opinion I will give this race a watch without any betting interest and say to myself,May the best horse win :)

Have a nice day,Gamble Responsibly
