Pune Races 15/08/2013

Hello friends,
First of all wish you all a very Happy Independence Day and the card here has 8 races with a class IV race with a million rupees as stake money as the feature of the day.

Race no 1:Class V race over a mile

A four horse field and there lies the danger,Viva Zapata gets a decent jockey on top,Adam's Prince ran a very good race on its second to Samay Balwan last time round and based on that run chances look rosy. Eye of the storm also gets a good jockey for the first time and shows that there is intent, going by its last spurt looks like the one that can pull it off here,Light my way which ran third carrying third during its last run over this distance carrying top weight had two more runs at other distances, now runs here with bottom weight thanks to allowance jockey on top has the ability to surprise all here.

My Choice:#2 Light my way e/w

Race no 2:A terms race for 3 yo only over 1000 mts

Bombardier which shed its maiden status over the same distance at Mumbai, had two more runs at a graded and a million race thereafter over a mile and 7f respectively, now comes back to the distance it shed its maiden

Colourful prince failed to carry the public purse when it raced last time at Pune, now runs in a terms race after failing to win a handicap race,if one ignores that race is a true contender here

Ultrasonic which had a forgettable Bangalore campaign is back at the western circuit, after running a million at Bangalore now runs with a switch in jockey to Dasrath Singh

The winner should probably come from the trio,Bombardier hasn't run an actual race at Pune this season yet toyed with its opponents in a mock race not so long ago,had run with better company and is a winner over this distance, thus is my personal choice in this race

My choice:#1 Bombardier for win

Race no 3:Class II race over 1800 mts

The most competitive race of the day,as Swift Memories ran third to Hidden Goodness during its last start, earlier won over 2000 mts during its last start at Mumbai in the same class, gets Y.S.Srinath in the saddle

Papakura is a model of consistency, had a very good Mumbai season, ran second to Winston on its last run at Pune, jockey change to Trevor Patel

Rodeo also has been very consistent, was seen running over longer trips at Mumbai, first run at Pund but seems to be prepared well, jockey change to T.S.Jodha

Mountbatten has three wins in its last four starts,is a horse in some good form now steps up in class and distance, penalised for it's last effort and will be rather interesting to see if it can put up a winning gallop in class II

Thus my friends the winner in my opinion should be from Papakura or Swift Memories in my opinion,Papakura runs for the first time in the extended distance and now runs with a change of jockey with respect to its last run in Trevor Patel,Swift Memories will certainly the step up in distance and will be the horse to beat,my personal choice here is Papakura as it has been ever consistent and also the trainer-jockey combination works well on most occasions

My choice:#3 Papakura for Win

Race no 4:Class IV race over 1200 mts

Act Of War which has been consistent in not winning is now running in top weight in class IV,in its last run found Matter of heart too hot to handle after hitting the front, goes out with the same jockey N.S.Parmar in the saddle

Gates of heaven after its second to dreams r mine at Mumbai, runs its first race at Pune, tracks look good and the jockey declared enhances its chance as it is better placed on terms this time

Zoraavar is one of the two three year olds in this field, has a very good form line and has matched strides with some good horses, first appearance at handicap class with a step up in distance in respect to its last run

Invincible also has decent form line, gets Vaibhav in the saddle first run this season and has a chance here

Arabian Glory which has good winter form ran a dismal race in its last start under a rookie, now with change in jockey will pose a threat to all

In my personal opinion the 3 yo Zoraavar seems like the one they all have to beat here, the only doubt if any is if it can handle the seven furlong trip, with Sandesh in the saddle,a run benifit and good tracks to go by there are reasons why this horse stands a very good chance in winning this race

My Choice:#3 Zoraavar for win

Race no 5:Maiden 3yo over 1400 mts

This race has YOU're the Boss which ran a good second on debut and then went off the radar, gets a change in jockey to Trevor Patel, its fifth behind Mars last time out over a longer trip was its first run this season

Archimedes ran third to Protector of Paris on debut, seems to be prepared well going by its tracks, gets jockey Joy Chinoy in the saddle

Ghangor which has run close to the winner in two of its last three starts is the main contender here, has jockey Sandesh to guide its fortunes

Barring any show of excellence by the two debutants the winner should be from this trio, the first named horse has an upsetting chance,Ganghor is very consistent no doubt but runs with blinkers with the first time and am a little vary about its chances, that leaves us with Archimedes which has been prepared well and its mock race would have made it strip even more fitter, the jockey isn't a negative in my personal opinion as he has struck a win very recently with Zakynthos which was also trained by the same trainer.

My Choice:#1 Archimedes for win

Race no 6:Class IV race over 2000 mts

The feature event of the day, which is run over 10 furlongs has Razeena who ran third in the Indian Oaks and failed to win after that show as a favourite in its subsequent starts now gets a change in jockey to Dashrath Singh

Ilmoran,Zambezi and Queen all have some relative form and apt jockeys aboard coming into this race,Zambezi ran a fast finishing third in its last run and based on that run chances look rosy

Oxbridge which is still a maiden in its three runs, looks to be prepared very well on the tracks, nearly ten track workouts at Pune with the same jockey on most occasions, thus has a prime chance in this field

In my opinion the winner should be from the mentioned horses and Oxbridge is my personal choice

My Choice:#12 Oxbridge for win

Race no 7:Class IV race over 1400 mts

I have personally restricted my view in this race to one horse Brindaaban, which after its three starts at Winter season is pitched in open class, has some very good track spurts to go by,in this set has a decent chance to score

My choice:#1 Brindaban for win

Race no 8:Class III race (5yo+) over 1200 mts

Garraro which won on its seasonal debut ran close to the winner in its subsequent start, now runs with the same jockey and has a decent chance here

Josephine which blew the field away last start is penalised 9 points for that effort and based on that run has an upsetting chance here.

King Julien which ran second to Garaaro is better placed in terms this time around and runs with the prime chance in this field

In the limelight and Scaramouche have both done well in the lower class and has the form in them especially the former to put up a good show

My choice:#4 King Julien for win

Day's Best:Bombardier
Double:Zoraavar-Brindaban

Have a nice day,gamble responsibly
