Pune Races 10/08/2013

Hello friends,
A card of eight races has been framed for the day with The Eve Champion Trophy (Gr.3) as the feature event of the day

Race no 1: Class v (1400 mts)

The day kick starts with a race for horses in the lowest class,Sydney which had a feel of the track when it ran fifth to Indiantouch, now switches form maiden to open class V company, its run was forward last time and its tracks with EMERGING STAR which is a class II animal, thus looks like a good contender here

Miracle of mercy which had a run earlier this season where in it finished fourth (2 lengths) behind the winner, now goes up in trip with the same jockey aboard, looking at its running style on its previous run the extended distance may suit and is as such a contender here

Showers of heaven which had earlier run second over the same trip this season was penalised 3 points for that effort and goes out with the same jockey in A.Sandesh.

Moonraker who also has the benifit of a run over a shorter trip, now goes up in trip with the same jockey in Trevor Patel astride, cannot ignore as its trackwork after that run is suggestive of a good show now

The winner should come from these three runners,Sydney who ran a forward race last time out is carrying top weight in open class and some man feel that it is a negative factor but I feel her trackwork is the most suggestive of all and is my personal choice for the race,

Sydney for win

Race no 2:Class III (1800 mts)

A field of five runners take on each other in this 1800 mts event

Soneeyo Onewish and Cypress point have a benifit of a run this season and of the three Cypress point which won over 1400 mts looks like a contender here

Hamlet one of the two runners from the Pesi Shroff yard looks like the horse to beat here, had won its last start over 2000 mts in this class at Mumbai, looks good on the tracks as well wherein it is tracking with the other stable runner Roswald who is also having some good form coming into this race.Yet I feel Hamlet is the better of the two horses pitched here,Cypress point who had earlier run 10 lengths behind Hamlet has some form and should run close, the only thing in my opinion which can work against Hamlet is that it is running after a long lay off yet I feel this horse can run well

My choice Hamlet for win

Race no 3 Class III race (1000 mts)

Panthera and Emperor of France take on each other once again in open company,Panthera who had earlier gone down to Emperor of France decimated the field when it won this season when both met once again over 1200 mts,and is penalised 17 points for that effort and the duel continues here,if one gives Emperor of France a closer look it ran a forward race over 1200 mts until the bend and fizzled now over 1000 mts and the scales tilted in its favour is my choice of the two horses

Capri,Dreamliner and quid pro quo also seem to run in their pet distance and if the youngsters fail they should be right there

But still over 1000 mts with its running style in the last race, the same jockey in Sandesh and also the fact that it is placed better on the scales now my choice is Emperor of France here

My choice: Emperor of France for win

Race no 4:Maiden race for 3 yo over 1000 mts

Cosmic dancer is the horse which appeals the most if one goes by form and it is the horse to be beaten

Amaya which had a forgettable debut is now working well on the tracks, has a switch in jockey to Dashrath Singh

I feel the race is restricted to these two runners and I feel the latter should run a very bold race in my view

My Choice:Amaya for win

Race no 5:Class I over 1200 mts

Dancing Phoenix which ran a very good race over 1000 mts this season is seeing class I company for the first time and I would like to watch its run here,if it wins I won't be surprised but ignoring this horse at my own

That leaves me between Anahi,Ishpingo and Turf Lightning
Turf Lightning

Anahi is placed better than Ishpingo on scales here and is a consistent performer over this distance and to add to it the name of the race is Antonios trophy,a horse trained by S.S.Shah

But Turf lightning who ran a blinder of a race in graded company after a lay off is bound to improve, now running at its own mark in class I is my choice here

My choice Turf Lightning for win

Race no 6:A gr.3 race over 2000 mts (4yo+)

An acquired Taste and Master Shifu are the two horses who have returned from Bangalore after having contrasting seasons.

Manyatta who won over 1800 mts graded event in Mumbai, has a run benifit over 1200 mts. Based on its run during the Indian 2000 guineas this distance should suit.Should place here

The one horse that they all must beat here is Maple Star, and I have my reasons for supporting this horse

1)Won Indian Oaks over 2400 in a start to finish manner, this distance may suit
2)Finished behind Onassis over the same trip as this race,at The eclipse stakes of India, although this horse finished way behind at the invitation cup,Onassis ran third behind Tintinnabulation and ocean and beyond and thus form line is good
3)the trackworks at Pune of this horse are good

Thus I am takin a chance on Maple star in this race

My choice Maple star for win

Race no 7:Race for maiden Indian horses over 1000 mts

My interest in this race is limited to one horse,Pretty hot who ran second on debut is now stepping down in distance and with Sandesh aboard has a bright chance to shed its maiden status here

My Choice Pretty hot for win

Race no 8:Class IV race over 1600 mts

Two youngsters Amistad and Grand duke take on each other here and in my opinion the race is between these two,and Amistad who shed its maiden status over a mile is my choice here.

Of the older horses,Zanthos is the one that can take advantage if the youngsters fail to make an impression

My choice:Amistad for win

Day's best:Turf Lightning
Double with Hamlet
Upsetter:Maple star

Have a nice day,gamble responsibly

    1. The horse finished second and An acquired Taste was too good a horse,I had overlooked AAT as i felt it was running too soon after its run on 2800 mts in its last start.

  2. If some one comment does not challenge you ,nothing will change you friend, take it with spirit and do good reading of the races as well as punting, you may be good in selections but how you play those selections is more important than selecting horse or horses(contenders),good day.Life is a gamble what i mean is no one knows what is in store in the very next moment so make it well and wishing you good time Mr.Sirocco
