Calcutta Races 17/08/13 Analysis and selections
Hello Friends,
A seven card event has been framed for the day with the CalcuttaJuvenile Sprint being the feature of the day
Race No 1:Class V race (1100m)
Grey Meteor ran fourth on its first appearence on the track in a handicap race, now gets a very positive switch in jockey to S.John
Tough One after running second to Roman Centurion now takes a drop in distance by 100 mts, change in jockey to Sandeep Rajput, led for sometime and beaten in the Straight
Piaffe which ran third in its run which was during Cal winter races, now takes a drop in class and has only one trackwork visible, but on its has a decent chance in this set
Sreeyantra which also has very good form during winter season,is working well on the tracks, has jockey P.S.Chouhan in the saddle
Baskerville which ran an eye-catching third on its last run,now gets a change of jockey to Mahesh. Trackworks are good.
Thus friends a very close race this,Piaffe and Sreeyantra both have good winter form to go by Baskerville and Tough one have good previous runs and the former is showing out good on tracks,Grey Meteor is an youngster but having a positive switch in jockey and this stands a chance here
My vote goes to Sreeyantra, although hasn't had a feel of the monsoon track this season, trackworks are visible and are good too,add it has the support of P.S.Chouhan and is drawn 1 here thus chances look very good to start the season with a win
My choice:#Sreeyantra for Win
Race no 2:Class IV race (1800 mts)
Bold desire which was a runner during the Calcutta St.Leger (finished last) now runs in class IV after a run over a shorter trip this season, gets a change in jockey to C.Alford,is working extremely good on the tracks
Devil in disguise after running fifth in its first outing this season, gets the same jockey again
Dancing Dame which gets a quantum jump in the support in saddle was sixth over 1400 mts in its last run,is tracking well has a decent chance here
Afrah and Words are the two three year olds in the fray, the former which is a winner this season over 1400 has the better chance of the two,the only doubt is the extended distance and the distance suitability factor
In my opinion Bold Desire has the prime chance to score here, can stay the trip no doubt, has a better jockey on board compared to its last run,is tracking extremely well on the tracks thus is my choice for the race
My Choice:#2 Bold Desire for Win
Race No 3:Class IV race (1100 mts)
Iconic,Angels Quest and Secret gloss appear to be the possible contenders in this set,all of them have placed in their last start with former showing out good on the tracks too,and thus is my first choice in this race.Angels Quest which gets a change in jockey with respect to its last ride is no pushover by any means too
My Choice:#2 Iconic for win
Race no 4:Class III race over 1400 mts
Two three year olds take on 5 other older horses in this race.
Beyond Stars which ran fourth in its last run over a shorter trip, now gets a switch in jockey to P.S.Chouhan,has earlier won over this same distance in the same class during cal winter season
Kwan Yin is on a hat-trick mission here, has won two races first during Cal winter and the next current season both over 1400 mts with the same jockey in C.Alford aboard, tracking well and a repeat performance looks a good possibility here
Two three year olds in Andreus and Richest Treasure are in show here, the latter on its last start won in the lowest class by a distance and is on double promotion here, can upset if the first two named fails to score
In my opinion Kwan Yin looks like the prime contender here, going for its third win this horse has done absolutely nothing wrong and with hopefully little luck of the race can pull this off,Beyond Stars seems like a genuine threat
My choice:#4 Kwan Yin for Win
Race no 5:Terms race for 3 yo only over 1100 mts
Five quality horses take on each other for this feature event of the day,Captain Courageous although has beaten both Adabella and MultiMagic may find the distance tough, the other two horses may find it a difficult to score in this bunch
Thus it leaves us between two horses in Adabella and MultiMagic
Adabella which won over 1000 mts in its last start is the horse to beat here as that win was impressive and with C.Alford at the saddle has a decent chance here, but friends MultiMagic which makes its seasonal debut here if going by its winding up spurt on 15/08 can upset the applecart of Adabella, thud Multimagic is the horse on which my money will ride in this race.
My choice:#4 Multimagic for win
Race no 6:Terms race for 4yo+ over 1400 mts
The prince of Calcutta Dandified takes on three horses from the Pat.Quinn yard in this race, can the prince be humbled here? I hope not but a strict no bet race for me this, but for academic purposes my choice here is Dandified for win
My choice:#1 Dandified for win
Race no 7:Class III race over 1100 mts
This race has Petaloid and Signor Sassi both winners on previous outings the former which is a same class winner and latter in the lower class, both during the same season
Snowball which ran fifth to Follow The Dream, now has a switch in jockey to P.S.Chouhan,is tracking well too and is a prime contender here
Divine Symphony which ran fourth to Our chieftain during the latter's second win gets a switch in jockey and based on that effort and formline comes into the picture
There is no second opinion that Snowball along with Signor Sassi are the two main contenders here, but Divine symphony which has a switch in jockey and on its fourth to the too-good Our Chieftan deserves a chance here and is my personal fancy for the race
My Choice:#6 Divine Symphony e/w
Day's Best:KWAN YIN
DOUBLE:SREEYANTRA-BOLD DESIRE
HAVE A NICE DAY,gamble responsibly
This is what I call good analysis and selection.Even if the selections do not exactly click, it does not matter. It is after all racing....
