Analysis and selections for Pune races 04/08/2013

Hello friends, 

                     A card of ten races has been framed for the day,with the TURF CLUB TROPHY as the feature event of the day.

Race no 1:A class V race over 1000 mts 

Stylish strokes is a winner over this same trip and class at Mumbai a couple of runs ago,then had two runs with claimers aboard and now gets a switch in jockey to Vaibhav

Midnight lady has a run here in this track,before that in the Mumbai season,its secon to twittilator was a notable one

Wild imagination which ran third to Domain Anna a couple of weeks ago,now goes over the same trip with the same jockey astride 

Victorious cause which incidentally is a winner over the same distance in the same class in its last run,now runs after a 9 point penalty,switch in jockey to Shelar

midnight wind which ran third to suntan beauty on its previous run,now goes out with the change in jockey to Vivek,as such its winter form is not good

Rising angel which has had the feel of track,a couple of times had finished fourth to Emerald Fortune in its last run,now gets a switch in jockey to C.S.Jodha

In my view,the race is restricted between Wild Imaginatiom and Midnight wind,with the latter dropping down in distance and having a switch in jockey.Although the scales may favour the latter,my choice here is Wild Imagination as it had a forward run over the same distance in its last start and should have stripped fitter and ready to put up a winning performance here

My choice:#4 Wild Imagination for win

Race no 2:A race for class V horses over 1000 mts

Eveready is a horse which is one amongst the many demotees in this race,gets a full jockey in Vaibhav to partner this horse. 

Caesarina who finished fifth over the same trip in same class in its last run during Mumbai season,gets a claimer on top. 

Yardstick which had a feel of the track on its last outing where it finished behind Trump card now goes out with the same jockey with a 1 point penalty

In my opinion the three horses listed here are the contenders for this race,Yardstick which has a benifit of a run among the others looks to be the winner here

My choice:#7 Yardstick for win

Race no 3:A race for 3 yo maidens over 1800 mts

All six horses are going over this trip for the first time,

Cactus cash whose half brother Caesars star who had won races at 2400 m is looking to shed its maiden status over this trip,will be partnered by Vaibhav

Dixie delight which had earlier finished behind Starry eyes in one of its starts had a feel of the track last week,now with the same jockey in C.S.Jodha astride as such its chances look good

Splendid light which had a feel of track last time out wherein it finished fifth over 1400 mts,now gets a switch in jockey to A.Sandesh,who was in a spree this afternoon 

Cactus cash which finished second on seasonal debut looks to be the horse to beat here,Splendid light whose style of running on its second to Celtic kind at Mumbai and the latter's victory again here added with the positive switch in jockey look like the one that can put up a winning gallop here

My choice:#6 Splendid Light for win

Race no 4:A race for class IV horses over 1200 mts 

Act of war which had a decent Mumbai season (3/6 times in place) had finished second to National glory in its last Mumbai run,goes out with the same jockey N.S.Parmat in the saddle

Gottawearshades had a forgettable last outing but before that its form was good as its last run in the same handicap with the same rider at Mumbai was 4th just a length behind the winner 

Dark knight which ran fourth to Port Blair over 1000 mts in its only start at Mumbai,now goes over this trip with a change on jockey to C.S.Jodha

Valrozky which is a winner over this same trip in the lower class had four runs after that run and hasn't performed well,now goes out with a change in jockey to Akshay

Matter of heart which has run fourth to Queen's Kiss in its last start now gets a claimer on top,now goes out with a change in jockey to Prasad

Laurus pride finished third to Queens kiss now goes out with a jockey change to T.S.Jodha,its last run too good and has decent form coming into this race

Act of war,dark knight and matter of heart look like the top contenders here,the first two named are yet to run a race this season,the third named horse has a claimer on top and has a run benifit,the track trails show that Dark Knight has been on the tracks for a while now,thus will be fitter for the fray,with a change in jockey to C.S.Jodha this horse looks to be the one they all have to beat here 

My choice:#3 Dark Knight for win

Race no 5:A race for 3 yo maidens over 1200 mts

This race in my opinion has four contenders in My freedom,one kept secret,Fontanelle and Zaagros. 

Pesi Shroff trained filly Fontanelle which on debut finished second to To the manor born (which subsequently won its next start at Bangalore) is my first choice here,her running style over 1000 mts and her form line is suggestive that she would do better over this trip here

My choice:#8 Fontanelle for win

Race no 6:A race for maiden 3 yo horses over 1200 mts

Four star general who made his debut a couple of weeks back on this same track,finished second after a duel with the winner,now steps up in distance and will be partnered by the same jockey in Dashrath Singh

Just by chance is making its debut here,as such the trackworks are suggestive of a good show,Ashad Asbar will ride this horse

Trisara which finished seventh behind emperor of France,of which the tracks look good! 

Four star general who came from behind and had a duel with the eventual winner on debut will run a better race here and in my opinion should beat em all,the debutant Just by chance looks to be prepared well too

My choice:#2 Four star general for win 

Race no 7:The turf club trophy (Gr.3) (4yo+) 

Hachiko which had a splendid winter season form,had a dismal run early on at Pune,was pitched in a wrong distance now over this trip which is its forte,its regular partner in Sandesh will partner this horse

Stormtracker,which is yet to lose a race over this distance at the track (lost once in the stewards room) is coming to Pune after clinching the BTC Ambrosia cup over the same trip at Bangalore,Imran Chisty is partnering this horse 

Rajasthan royals which ran fourth to Weizhou a couple of weeks ago,goes out with the same jockey in Vaibhav,it ran a forward race last time out,thus will be looking to do better here

Star trainer had once clincher a million at Mumbai over 1200 mts and after that effort it had finished on board in 2/6 starts,as such doesn't inspire any confidence here over this trip 

Weizhou which had won on its last start here in a stunning manner now goes out with the same jockey,yet again like the past time the terms seem to be placed slightly good if not strikingly it was last time around in its favour

Orito which had only one run at the Mumbai season,came with telling strides during its 3rd to Weizhou,now goes out with a change in jockey to Dashrath Singh

Yuville is returning to racing after a break of almost 6 months,its previous runs are good and at bottom weight may have a say if fit. 

In my opinion the top three horses Hachiko,Storm Tracker Rajasthan royals along with Orito seem to be the contenders here,Stormtracker is a horse which has never gone down in this distance and to add it the horse it beat at Bangalore Archibaldo(which had reasonably good form before that race too and had also won its subsequent start) makes it the top contender here and also my first choice,also don't write off Hachiko as this race may very well be end as duel between the two

My choice:#2 Storm tracker for win 

Race no 8:A class IV race over 1800 mts 

Mars which is a winner over the same distance when it shed its maiden status,now runs with a switch in jockey to A.Sandesh. 

Fortune favours which is making its seasonal debut here she its maiden status over a mile,now runs with Dashrath Singh atop. 

Zambezi which had run third to Polynesia over the se trip in its last start at Mumbai is facing youngsters here,but based on that effort stands a chance here

Queen which ran second to wind of the hills on its seasonal debut,now runs over this extended trip with the same jockey as its last run Vaibhav aboard,the horse that came behind Run like the wind had won on its next start and as such the formline holds good 

This race is purely between Mars and Fortune favours,the former although has a run advantage doesn't inspire me. The latter .i.e. Fortune favours has been prepared well if the track reports are any indication,should do well here 

My choice:#2 Fortune favours for win 

Race no 9:A class III race over 1600 mts

Mountain force is a winner over 2400 mts on its last but one start,it is making its seasonal debut here with jockey Kaviraj Singh on the saddle

Honest pleasure which had won its last outing,now steps down in distance and will be partnered by the same jockey Neeraj rawal who rode when the horse had won last time out 

Polynesia which has three wins in a row to its formline also makes its seasonal debut,with the same jockey Ashad Asbar who partnered this horse is two of its three wins

Mountbatten which is a winner at class four over a mile,now steps up in grade and distance and will be partnered by the same jockey Sandesh 

Appalachia which is a winner on a late debut,had a run in this class III at February and is running here after a lay off is running here with D.K.Ashish on the saddle 

Sun salutation which runs here has finished third twice in its last three runs over the same class,gets a switch in jockey to Dashrath Singh 

With all the horses having no run benifit at all,the tracks are the only indication,Honest pleasure looks like the better horse in the trails,add to that it is a same class winner not so long ago over an extended trip,this is my choice here

Race no 10: A class v race over 1400 mts (5yo+) 

Machi UNO which has run over a shorter trip in its last start this season now gets a change in jockey to Mosin

Light my way which has a good Mumbai form to by,now gets a jockey Ashad Asbar on the saddle,is placed good in weights here

Samay balwan who had finished third in the upper class in its last but one start,now runs its second start over demotion,will be ridden by the same jockey as in its last start Akash Agarwal

Carpe Diem which had earlier run fourth in its last start,had finished second in one of its starts,now goes out with same jockey

Twittilator which had finished second in its last start at Mumbai over a shorter trip,is now stepping up in distance with a change of jockey to Ishwar Pardesi

Daredevil which had finished fourth on its only run this season,was consistent in its runs at Mumbai too,had once finished a close second over the same trip in one of its runs last Mumbai season and in the same race Moneystrike has finished second,

This race is very closely matched on paper as half the field have considerable form coming into this race with Macho UNO,twittilator,daredevil and Moneystrike as possible contenders here,Moneystrike which has a benifit of a run also gets a positive switch in jockey here,Daredevil is better placed in terms than the former,Macho UNO is a danger lurkin with a claimer on top and twittilator whose runs are very consistent now gets to lower its burden on the top with an apprentice Ishwar Pardesi is my fancy here 

My choice:#8 Twittilator for e/w bet
