Analysis and selections for Bangalore Summer Races 02/08/2013

A card of seven races,in which the Bangalore Gold Cup (Gr.3) is the feature of the day. 

Race no 1:A race for class v races over 1200 mts 

Blues legend which runs here in this class second time after its demotion,earlier during winter season came second in the same class and same trip,jockey change to Imran Khan 

Mountain train after a long lay-off ran a forward race during its second to caraway a week back,now with the same jockey Sadam Hussain on the saddle and going over the same trip 

Parliament square which ran fifth to demand draft,now gets the same jockey on top,can improve on its previous performance 

Al Sadaf is another horse which ran closer to Demand draft and is seen here with a change in jockey to V.R.Jagdish

Thus this race in my reading looks to be a two way affair,Mountain train from the Sathish Narredu yard ran a game race after returning to the race track after a lay off and looks like the one they all have to best here. 

My choice:#3 Mountain Train for Win

Race no 2:For maiden 3 yo Indian horses over 1100 mts

Ancient Warrior which finished sixth to racing ahead on its debut on the Bangalore track,has a decent form line if one takes a look at its Mumbai winter season,change of jockey to Suraj Narredu

Capitalize which ran a good second behind Keukenhof ran a dismal race next start under slushy conditions,goes out with the same jockey Imran Chisty like in its last start 

Vigorous which ran fourth behind Ace mesmeriser is now jumping down in trip by 100 mts,earlier in this season finished fifth to dancing in the rain over the same trip 

Jersey heights was reported to be slowly off in its last run,no tracks are visible after that run

Ezee go lucky is a horse that finished fourth behind love of my life in its last run and gets a switch in jockey to V.R.Jagdish,can place here as last run was forward 

Ancient wonder if one discounts its last run as a first timer in this track becomes a good contender here as it has the local to be champion jockey in the saddle,Capitalize which had a bad outing last time gets the same jockey aboard and I would wait and see if it performs well,thus my choice here is Vigorous which ran a forward race over 1200 mts,now drops by 100 mts in distance and also gets a switch in jockey to P.s.Chouhan

My choice:#8 Vigorous for win

Race no 3:A class IV race (4yo+) over 1400 mts

Igah Igah Igah after running a good third to classic placed Acclaimed ran two dismal runs in its next two outings,now gets a change of jockey to Imran Khan 

My law which ran a dismal race in its only start this season,had a decent winter form to go by,now it gets a switch in jockey to P.S.Chouhan

One from a billion and Royal admiral both after their wins ran nowhere in their next start,the set here looks weak and they can be expected to run well here 

Serengiti which finished fourth in its last run,ran four races this season and has finished 4 lts or less behind the winner in two occasions,has the same jockey in Vivek to guide its fortunes 

Igah Igah Igah and My law both have a similar pattern as in their last runs were dismal and one expects them to run well with their switch in jockeys,I would personally put my money on Serengiti but with a caution that its runs aren't consistent

My choice:#10 Serengiti for win 

Race no 4:A terms race over 1200 mts for horses (3yo+) (Gr.3) 

The Feature event of the day is this sprint event which has 6 runners in the lineup 

Ancient Wonder,has two runs this season,won its first start after a layoff that too in a graded race,then ran a good race on derby day finishing third to Stormtracker,jockey Imran Chisty who rode this horse last time when it won gets the ride here 

Archibaldo is a horse in some form,after finishing a fast moving sixth to Successor over this same trip,ran two game races to win back to back defying the handicapper,its second behind Stormtracker on the derby day was one to note,the distance may be a tad too short in my opinion 

Chul bul pandey which ran third to Ancient wonder on its second start this season,had two off days before and after that run,the latter is better placed on scales thus for this horse to win here seems difficult 

Speed six which ran second to Nefyn during the invitation weekend,ran second to Ancient Wonder on its seasonal debut,then ran again on the derby day where it finished fourth to its ownermate Stormtracker after running a forward race,now gets a change in jockey to A.Sandesh

Sunday strom finished behind sovetskaya in its only start this season and has finished fourth in the sprinters cup,this no pushover,Appu a veteran jockey on the saddle 

Sovetskaya which blew the field away with a tremendous turn of foot inside the last 100 mts is pitched in here at this graded event,earlier to that run ran 8th to Stormtacker and second to Machiavellianism,jockey Suraj Narredu will guide the horse in this race 

Thus this race if one goes by the formbook,Ancient Wonder stands tall here as it has given beating to Speed Six two times over and is better placed on the scales when compared with Archibaldo vis-a-vis its last run,Speed six now runs with a change in jockey to A.Sandesh and will suit its style of running,the lone filly in the field Sovetskaya which showed tremendous turn of foot on its last start,also has a switch in jockey here. 

A very closely matched race this,Soveyskaya last run was blistering and I opt for this only for that reason,I hope along with Suraj Narredu in the saddle should run a game race 

My choice:#6 Sovetskaya for an e/w bet 

Race no 5:A race for class IV horses (4yo+) over 1400 mts

Stellar Ambition which has three starts this season,finished third to spiritual star in one of its starts,gets P.S.Chouhan aboard now. 

Trust me boy after running fifth to an younger Acclaimed on its season debut,ran twice and placed once as a Piping hot fav,change in jockey to A.Ramu 

Fantastic strike has three runs this season,with its third to Wrekin in its last start as its best so far,gets a switch in jockey to Sreekant 

Ice stone which has only two runs this season,finished fourth to Wrekin in its last run,gets a change in jockey to Suraj Narredu. 

Our love barring its last run had a good season with two back to back wins,now runs with a change in pilot to Noornabi

Zermatt which ran after a long layoff this season during its first run  broke its blood vessels,now runs here with a switch in jockey to Fr.Da.Silva

Formula one has three runs this season,and has finished on an average 6-7 lts behind the winner in all its starts,now gets a change in jockey to Imran Chisty

This race on paper is closely matched,Ice storm which finished a good fourth to Wrekin has the pull in weights here in its favour,add to that the switch in jockey is also positive,this this horse is my choice here

My choice:#5 Ice Stone for win 

Race no 6:A class III race over 2000 mts

Wind force which had won in a smashing fashion over a mile now goes over this extended trip with a change in jockey to Anjar Alam who is a claimer

Applejack had finished sixth to Nabisco in its only start this season,has a good winter form and in one of its runs over this same trip has placed,John will be riding this horse

Bright lady which came to Bangalore after a decent Mumbai winter season,ran in the classic first up and then in open class and was seen nowhere,this trip may suit this filly 

Southern Sky which ran in the derby now takes a quantum jump down in class to class III,earlier ran sixth (3.75) lengths behind the winner in the fillies trial stakes,on that account stands a good chance here,gets a change in rider to Imran Chisty

Transcendental after a not so good start to this season has been pitched in a longer trip by the trainer with a good jockey aboard,bears watching here in this race

Imperial verse which shocked during its season debut ran 20 lengths behind Charlartan on the same day,change in jockey to Vivek

Thus a small but very competitive field here,my interest in this race pertains to the two 3 yo horses in Bright lady and Southern sky,the former has good stamina on its side yet when they both met recently on level weights in the fillies stakes the latter fared better,Southern Sky ran dismally during derby,but I hope it can tackle this field here 

Among the older horses,Applejack who ran third over the same trip during winter may be a danger lurking in for the youngsters

My choice:#4 Southern Sky for win

Race no 7:A class V race for horses (4yo+) over 1200 mts  

Firestorm which has three runs this season,finished third behind wind wonder in one of its starts,now runs with a claimer Noornabi

Volt which finished a good third to Astonishing in its last run,ran second to The Scientist earlier,the handicapper hasn't done any change to its ratings and as such stands another good chance here

Balance of nature which shows marked improvement during its last run with an apprentice on top,now goes out with a full jockey in V.R.Jagdish,has been penalised 3 points for its previous effort

London eye which ran a shade under 2 lengths in its only start this season,goes out with A.Ramu this time,may improve on its last run

Nations's glory also has one run this season where it finished 7 lengths behind the winner in the upper class,now runs with a switch in jockey in the lower class. 

Shahraan which finished second on its only run this season,has been penalised 3 points for that effort,and as such looks good here with a change in jockey Sreekant

Tic tac toe which ran second on its last run to demand draft now gets a switch in jockey to Suraj Narredu as such the form is quite consistent in its form 

A quite evenly matched race this as half of the field have considerable form to go by here,Firestorm is a horse in one of its last runs finished closer to the winner in class III,London eye although placed sixth in the higher class ran only (3.5 lts) behind the winner,appear as good contenders here. 

volt which finished third to The scientist in one of its runs failed to win on its last effort,with the wins of The Jaguar and The Scientist yet again shows that the form line is good 

My choice:#2 Volt for win
