Hello Friends,
Now what Bangalore Summer with its topsy turvy turns for me is done and dusted,we need to focus on Pune for the weekend,a compact card of 7 races has been framed with a race in memory of Jockey D.K.Ashish. Here are my views of the races to be held today.
1-4 Replica may be fancied but it is an interesting choice against the Course and Distance winner not once but twice in Sail Past who has a run benefit too this season and ofcourse Quatro who finished ahead of Replica in its last run,Replica is having a change in jockey to the infamous Kaviraj Singh who showed a spike by finishing second last week also it is maiden but has been able to hover around the ratings of 30 and thereabout and as such in a race for 5yo+ horses stands a decent enough chance to win from the other two mentioned horses.
2-4 Korol is certainly the better horse on class amongst the four possible contenders (Korol,Uncle Scrooge,Sabiq and Kommandant) but then its distance capability is a ? as it is going over the mile and a half for the first time,amongst the others it is Uncle Scrooge who is a distance winner at Mumbai that should be in the reckoning.
3-5 Bullrun against Kandinsky and Airco who have been beating one another in their past runs is another choice which has to be termed as 'interesting',more so because the Pune derby winner is making a return to the track after an eventful (off the track) Mumbai campaign,there is the risk of health involved yet for a horse who has won 3/3 in Pune and recieving weights from all I feel it is worth the risk.
4-2 Sherlock who has the services of Zervan is also a got-abroad with a sire that is known to throw precocious runners and on that account appeals against the Change of Luck progeny Unforgettable You also of the ones who have made a debut Never Say Never has been running in some graded races and as such on that account should be hugely respected.
5-3 Zabrok e/w after finishing second in open class V over the same trip and now getting a claimer in this No whips affair has an equal chance in my book if not better than owner-mate Jackknife who looks like a universal choice,also keep an eye on Ensign who is also looking for her elusive maiden win. Secret Flame has the pull in weights and the form to cosider again but in all probability it is Zabrok who can run a bold race here
6-6 Don Corleone who happens to be one of the Maiden Class Winners in the fray will run at weights below than the bottom weight in this race thanks to the allowance and with that has also hit form last run by finishing a good second to Zahrazan and as such should be in strong contention to settle the issue here,ofcourse Spear of Trium and Cezanne are obvious threats.
7-5 Orla from the S.K.Sunderji's yard had a decent run last time out until the bend over the same trip and being a course winner over 1000m on its first start and now with retainer in the saddle should be in good contention here,also Lucky Strike on account of being a maiden hovering around the 30's in the ratings scale should be in strong contention too along with Magical Dancer who has been also subject to a good run earlier in the season. Anvill star and Scarlet Prince are on re-appearances after a break and should be interesting to see how to they fare here.
