Mumbai Sunday 28/12/14 Analysis and Selections

Hello Friends,
The Sunday's card at Mumbai has eight races with The Jewel Royals Maharaja Jiwajirao Scindia Trophy (Gr.II) as the feature of the day. Here is my analysis and personal fancies followed by investment plans for the day.

RACE 1:A class V race over 2400 mts

Argyle Pink with Trevor Patel in the saddle warrants a lot of attention. This horse is a course and distance winner last season and now is near its last winning rating and as such is the top contender here

I'm however of the opinion that Bonobo who has also dropped down a lot in scales had a decent last outing and now over this trip with a run advantage this season this horse holds a slight edge than the former. As the field is small one can only hope as the pace of the race will play a major part in the outcome

My Choice:#2 Bonobo Win

RACE 2:For 2 yo maidens only over 1200 mts

All the six horses that are going to face the starter tomorrow are debutants.

Without going too much into the credentials of the runners, the two factors pedigree and preperation are mostly in favour of two horses namely Bright Halo and Gabriella

The latter is by a got abroad sire and from premier stables, has been subject to decent preperation whereas the former is extensively prepared and is from a freshmen sire who has already given us a winner in Polished Chrome

Phoenix Fire has the sirelines to impress here and is the minor upsetter in the fray

Based on pedigree factor alone I'm going with Gabriella here and she is my personal fancy

My Choice:#5 Gabriella Win

RACE 3:A class II race over a mile

THE BIG BULL thanks to its form is the top contender in this race, the same class distance and course winner now has its task cut out of giving his rivals weight all around. The question is can he build up on his last win...... A top contender in this race

Although there are many decent horses in the fray, the ones that catch the eye are the trio of Celtic King (this horse has a massive switch in jockey, last run it finished close to the too-good Adam and now will be looking to score third win of its career) Doc Holiday (who has a run benifit in this class and now gets its winning jockey back in the saddle, can it stay a mile with authority is yet to be seen) and the well bred WENTWORTH (who in its day has matched strides with horses of greater acclaim, coming back after a lay off but her mock race earlier in the month is worth taking note of)

Thus although The Big Bull looks like having a definite edge I'm looking for value in this race, and I believe that Celtic King who has put in a good run last time out agaisnt Adam who is now going out with a positive switch in jockey can make it a good duel here and hence is my personal fancy

My Choice:#3 Celtic King Win

RACE 4:A class IV race over 1000 mts

Of the older horses one should keep an eye on Silsila, this horse is now back to winning weights on demotion and is all capable calling a bluff here, one can only take chances

Four Star General has been a good horse who did not do well because of some issues, last run he was drawn very wide and still managed to finish second,is the one they all have to beat in this race

This race has Artiste and Soothsayer who have both won Maiden races in their careers, the former is my pick of the two and she has two things to take care of 1)The weights that the filly is assigned to carry and 2)drawn 13 in a 15 horse sprint..... Her positive ofcourse is an acclaimed Irishman who is assigned to ride her

Chase The Ace is coming into this race as a handicap winner of the same class,I must tell you that maiden winners are always considered to be a notch above winners of handicaps especially when they face each other in class IV. However the manner of his last victory and other factors that his opponents face makes him quite a default choice in this race. He is drawn on the inside, has services of the jockey in form and is tracking pretty well.My personal fancy

My Choice:#3 Chase The Ace Win

Race 5:A terms race over 1800 mts

The fight is for the second spot, with too many inter connected horses and a small fields where tactics will play a major role it is a tricky task to pick a runner for place

Hence this race according to me is best viewed with academic interest with an eye on Invitation Cup which is now less than 100 days from now

Race 6:A class III race over 1400 mts

Made To Measure did win its last outing in exemplary fashion, with a weights raised race it does have a more than good chance of repeating

But then there is Zenofic and Fibonacci Sequence in the fray along with Jewel and Born To Win who have also won earlier in their career and thus makes this race slightly open

Zenofic now has retained jockey of the owner in the saddle, has won well debut and has been running some good races despite bad gate manners, can fair well here if it takes a good jump and has a uneventful passage

However Finonacci Sequence who shed its maiden in its last start is my fancy here, the manner of victory in a maiden is highly suggestive and also it retains its winning jockey onboard

My Choice:#4 Finonacci Sequence Win

Race 7:A class III race over 1000 mts

Merchant Of Venice won a Million to clear its maiden ranks, one cannot rule out a horse of its calibre here even though it has slumped after shedding its maiden tag

Kazuri's last start win at Pune after a lay off in this very class was too good to the eye, again comes back with the same scenario and is the top most contender to win here

Of the other horses although there is Arrete who is a summered horse in Bangalore and Don Corleone who has matched strides with many good horses in the fray, this race yet again wears a very open look

My personal fancy here is Don Corleone, who is a winner over the same trip and is now a certain danger to the best here at these weights with ace jockey in the saddle

My Choice:#9 Don Corleone Win

Race 8:A class IV race over 1000 mts

Statuesque who had won well this season is now being ridden by an apprentice who had shown good compusre just a couple of days ago on There She Goes,a decent chance here

Flynn,Extreme Love are the two horses that seem like main challengers in this race both have decent riders aboard and cannot be overlooked

Khaleefa and Dark William are the other two horses in the fray that seem to be having a good advantage in their respective weights here,my choice is the former solely on its last spurt and change in saddle support

My Choice:#5 Khaleefa Win

Have a nice day,gamble responsibly

INVESTMENT PLAN (Update Time 12:15 am)

BONOBO Win 1000
Gabriella Win 1500
Chase The Ace Win 2000
Finonacci Sequence win 1500
Don Corleone Win 1000

NOTE:The investment plan is for guidance and self Assesment only and is not a recommendation of any sort
