Calcutta 15/11/14 Analysis and Selections

Hello Friends,
Calcutta winter season seems to have picked up momentum with a 9 race card, the classics are just a week away in this center. Tomorrow's card features The Mayfowl Cup which has attracted top class horses, the following is my analysis followed by my personal fancies

RACE 1:A CLASS IV RACE OVER A MILE

The days proceedings open with what seems like an exciting race atleast in an academic point of view

The last outing winner in the lower class City Heights is now placed well on promotion plus it gets a better jockey aboard, tracks are good. Was whipped to sustain in its last run and can it match up to higher class is the question on hands

Athletico has what I term as a 'massive' switch in saddle support, although his last run is good the run before that is suggestive and is certainly the top contender in my book for this race

The likes of Adanna (who has a run benifit in this season and on promotion with better saddle support) and Combined Operation (whose run despite the slow jump was suggestive and with the change in trip and better preparation) are the two horses that come into my contention,of these two I will give a slight edge to the latter who despite the age and weight is a danger to all

Temple Run comes from a stable that is on the rise in the recent past, good trainer-jockey combo and worth keeping an eye

However Never Apart should relish this trip and may show, workouts are quite decent and has every reason to run a bold race here,my personal fancy

My Choice:#5 Never Apart Win

RACE 2:FOR CLASS IV HORSES OVER 1200 mts

Marilyn is a horse that is bred well and supported many times by me,now in this company despite the fact that it has a change in shoes to 'steel' cannot be overlooked

Altesino made its debut pretty late as a 4 yo,won on its debut over 1400 before going down in its next start. The very presence of Alford in the saddle shows intent, the top contender in this race and one one has to see how it handles the cut down in trip

Of the older lot the one that appeals is Burst of Stardust who has more than a fair chance in this race,as it has a run benifit this season and also has good form coming into this race

Solitary Eagle after winning a 3 yo handicap as a favourite over 1100 mts is stepping up in class and distance, the trainer has opted for a claimer and has been given regular track works can hope to do well as it has the 'form' and 'preperation' along with age to do well in this race,my personal fancy

My Choice:#1 Solitary Eagle Win

RACE 3:A CLASS IV RACE OVER 1200 mts

This race looks quite open,Resolution which has won earlier in the monsoon season by adopting start to finish tactics is now getting a step down in trip,it its last run over a mile tried the same run-away tactics, now over this trip can his speed match that of other is the ? In other words much depends on the pace equation if this race

There are quite a number of horses that may run with the pace in this race and Wonder Like You is one amongst them, this horse is now prepared extremely well and is going into this race with a couple of equipment changes, bears watching and I would give this horse a fair chance in this race

Land of Glory has been running some decent races except the last race, even in the last race was prominent before giving way to others, this horse has a 'massive' switch in saddle support. Now with decent form, decent preperation, top jockey and low weights this horse appeals the most to me in this open looking race

My Choice:#10 Land of Glory Win

RACE 4:A CLASS III RACE OVER 1100 mts

Pedro is the lone youngster in this set,has done well in its last and is running now after almost a gap of 10 months, thus even though the terms are suited to it in my opinion it is better to watch how it performs here

Sokudo (thanks to its switch in jockey, preperation and recent form) and Hurricane Andrew (who seems to be placed well but lacking preperation) are the two horses that can be termed as top contenders in this race

Garraro is a winner in the same distance some while ago,now after many listless runs is back to its winning trip and just cannot be overlooked

Romancer is also a winner of same class and distance, last run was suggestive and can be expected to give a good show

However the horse to be beaten in this race is Fire Angel, who is now prepared extremely well. This horse has a change in jockey and his last but one run over this same trip is quite suggestive and thus is my personal fancy for this race

My Choice:#5 Fire Angel Win

RACE 5:A CLASS III RACE OVER 1100 mts

Aithops who won its last start quite well is well placed on the scales and as such is the top contender in this race

Land of Love who has the form, the jockey factor and the preparation looks very appealing in this race

Amorino also has two wins in its career, now thanks to the claimer on top backed with good preparation this horse just ticks most of my boxes except that it has a long lay-off which is a cause for concern yet I feel that this horse can bounce back to winning ways because of the preperation and the presence of a claimer who will now lessen the burden of weights

Of the older lot No Politics Please and Goliath (the very dark outsider) are the two horses one should be wary of.

My Choice:#2 Amorino Win

RACE 6:A CLASS V RACE OVER 1400 mts

Class 'V' races are most of the time open affairs, this race in particular has an influx of demotee horses and as such throws a rather peculiar look to it

Sunny Side and Auberon both have a run advantage in this current season, the latter with an import jockey and better preperation seems to have a slight edge

Baby Come Back and Princess Thea have something or the other going for them and as such cannot be ruled out completely

Also take a look at Dance in China who is now almost back to its winning handicap and warrants attention

Sartaj is my personal fancy in this open looking race, has modest form and a decent local lad aboard, looks to be the one that can give its opponents a good fight in this race

My Choice:#2 Sartaj Win

RACE 7:A CLASS II RACE OVER A MILE

Shourisha although at bottom of the scales with a top jockey has to step up its game to make this race interesting

Bengal King whose last run was too good while it finished second over a seven furlong trip and Winds of The Ocean under the same jockey flat-footed the opposition over a nine furlong trip are the two older horses whom I think will have a big say in this race

Pick Pocket is sitting on top weighs, has done well in class I company too, just cannot be sidelined

However Romantic Flow whose record before going down to Tiger Tops was 3/3,now gets his regular jockey abaord and I expect him to run a very good race,he might like up for the classics if he wins this one,my personal fancy

My Choice:#4 Romantic Flow Win

RACE 8:A TERMS RACE (4yo+) OVER 1400 mts

SNOW DRIFT the winner of the winter derby last winter season and has run second to the mighty Amazing Grace during its summering campaign comes into this race with a step down in trip and a jockey who is in fine trim

Gentle Knowledge who has also been a country trotter along with Malpensa are the two horses that seem like the ones that can give decent fight to the former

The local hero Dandified is however having the top jockey of the centre on duty, wait that's not all its record over this trip is staggering and it would make a very good horse to beat at its game,my personal fancy

My Choice:#2 Dandified Win

RACE 9:A CLASS III RACE OVER 1400 mts

ANIBORN,TRIUMPHUS and SIMPLE SIMON are the three horses that come into this race with winning form, the former will be widely expected to put up a winning show and rightly so,of the promotees its TRIUMPHUS that can hope to do well

Iron Lady after hovering around in this very class had two decent runs and with Sandesh in the saddle can hope to improve further

Of the older horses,Shivalik Shakti and Black Caviour are the dark horses

I however feel that Daylite has a good chance to upstage ANIBORN and others,it has the weight advantage and the jockey switch cannot be termed as 'negative' and this is my personal choice in what yet again looks like a very open race

My Choice:#8 Daylite Win

Have a nice day,gamble responsibly
