Pune Derby Day-Selections and Analysis

Race 1:For 3 yo maidens over 1000 mts

Arizona Sun which is blazing the track trials may well be the most favoured choice in this race,tracks are suggestive and is short of a run,that has to be taken into consideration 

Spanish Saga,Chase The Sun and Flynn are its immediate threats,Flynn which was prominent in its last race now gets an array of equipment changes,has a fair chance 

Sail Past had a very good run last time out,now with the change in rider and drop down in distance,has a fair chance to do well,my personal fancy 

My Choice:#5 Sail Past Win 

Race 2:A class V race over a mile 

Wind of The Hills comes into this race with a very good race under its belt,has the right trainer-jockey combination and should run a bold race 

Of the other horses Dream Yuga who has run two good races over the same distance can expect to do well 

Then there is Sir Song,who is coming into this race with a very good fourth in its last outing,the immediate danger to the favourite 

However Miss Pearl seems like the one that can pull it off here,running in the lower most class has a positive switch in jockey and is blazing in the trial tracks. The only deterrent is Odds 

My Choice:#1 Miss Pearl win 

Race 3:A class III race over 1200 mts 

Basic Life has some good form this season,as said before the trainer-jockey combination plus the last run makes this horse the top contender in this race 

Nature Boy and Silsila both can also be termed as genieune contenders in this race,the latter especially has that switch in jockey with respect to its last run and should fare well here 

Doc Holiday won its last outing very well,although on promotion,is placed well and been working well on the tracks too,should run a good race and is my personal fancy in this race 

My Choice:#1 Doc Holiday Win 

Race 4:A class IV race over 2400 mts 

There are three youngsters in the fray in Attraction,Al Shamsheer and Starry Moment 

Al Shamsheer is sired by 4 time Ascot Gold Cup Winner,stamina is not a concern when you go by pedigree,but is a known Bleeder and over a longer trip is suspect

Attraction is also sired by another well respected Dylan Thomas winner of the Arc,can stay but form is major cause of worry 

Starry Moment not seen in the tracks after its easy victory last time out,needs to find a lot in this upper class race 

Thus it leaves is with three contenders in Fleetwood Mac,Dixie Delight and Magic Vision 

A lot has been discussed about these three,Magic Vision gets my vote of the three as its last run was simply too good to ignore,can it tackle the trip? That needs to be seen but comes with a very good run under its belt and is my personal fancy 

My Choice:#6 Magic Vision Win/Place 

Race 5:A race for maiden 3 yo's over 1400 mts 

EDUDARO who is now prepared well and is bound for his second life time improvement is the low odd favourite for this race and rightly so.... 

The only horse that can challenge the former is Aleta,who comes into this race with mock race to its credit,gets a switch in jockey to P.S.Chouhan and cannot be ignored 

Incandescent is coming after a lay off,is tracking well and is the danger to the fancied ones in this race 

Horses who have run behind Congressional has the formlines but were seen plodding in that race,may find it tough here 

My choice is purely Academic,nothing more and nothing less 

My Choice:#3 Edudaro Win 

Race 6:A Terms Race over 1200 mts 

If Dancing Prances has maintained its current fitness,then it will be invincible when it faces the starter come Racetime,the track spurts are good and I hope that there is nothing bad 

Dancing Phoenix showed remarkable early speed,as the field is small and it stumbled upon its last start,can hope to run a mighty race here,the rest have too much to catch up in this race 

My Choice:#1 Dancing Prances Win 

Race 7:The Nanoli Stud Pune Derby (Gr.1)

It is the Creme de la Creme race of the season,thanks to the many scenarios with which some horses are coming into this race,it wears quite an open look 

Eleven horses to face the starter for this race,of which there are six winners of Graded Races,and three classic winners,all Western Indian horses raiding into South. Thus this field is filled with abundant quality and quantity (A rarity in recent times) 

Shivalik Strom is one of the two Gr.1 winners,unlike the other horse has two real race experience in this track,Tiger Tops won the derby by a street at Calcutta after defeating this horse,although recent form is lacking has that class factor

If at all there was a real race gallop for the Pesi Shroff trained filly Maisha,then it would have given a clear cut account of its track liking. Many a horses have failed to sparkle at the Pune Track,with astute preparation from the Top Trainer and a classic to its name,this horse is no pushover,infact on sheer recent formlines,this horse stands tall in this set

Coming to other graded winners in this race,the Mysore classic winning duo of The Myth and War Command come into contention,the latter especially has been in some winning streak,with Sandesh doing duty is another live contender in this race 

Two races in the Pune Season can be termed as preps for this race and the winner of the them are Quasar (The Gen.Rajendersinghji Million) and Zachary (The S.A.Poonawalla Multi Million) are also in the fray,the latter has what I can term it as a 'surprising' jockey choice,nevertheless it just cannot be ignored as it toyed with quality opposition

Quasar won its race,which was after a lay-off without breaking a sweat but gave moments of discomfort to its backers,with that advantage of a run holds good chances here 

Of the other runners only Grenadine,due to the jockey factor and the distance factor catches the eye,the outsider in this race 

As I had said before,Maisha has the strongest formlines and stands tall in this race,the only horse in my opinion which has a race gallop in this center,also prepared well is Quasar the immediate danger. Yes,War Command has the class but one is unsure of its stamina capabilities. 

All said and done,Quasar is my personal fancy for this race as this horse can stay the trip,with its pedigree and has that slight edge when it comes to real race experience in this track over Maisha 

My Choice:#2 Quasar Win 

Race 8:A class II race over 1200 mts 

ULTRASONIC has the best credentials coming into this race as it has run behind as a favourite to what turned out to be the too-good Knight of Ke 

One Kept Secret once its conquerer ran well to finish a close second in the upper class,now the scales are in formers favour whereas the form is very well with the latter 

Then there is Brynhill who ran a commendable race last time out,now runs over its pet distance and with a claimer to add to its advantage 

Sea Treasure has performed well with this jockey at Mumbai,the outsider in this race 

My Choice:#3 Brynhill Win 

Race 9:For class III horses over 1200 mts 

There are many consistent horses in the fray,Oriental Rocky has seen better days,knocking at the door and certainly the one that cannot be ignored in this race 

Pepe Senior is a demotee and comes into this race with good credentials,the same jockey is riding again which may prove to be a boon 

Wings Of Glory has not won since jan 2013,gets a massive switch in saddle support,runs over its pet distance and has one good track spurt to its credit 

Angel In The Sky has been tuned in to cash its form,has a fair chance here and Ice Skates cannot be ruled out completely too 

The final race of the derby day should be in my opinion won by either Wings of Glory or Pepe Senior,the former is my fancy

Bangalore selections and analysis 27/07

Race no 1: A race for class V horses over 1200 mts On the outset this race looks extremely tricky thanks to the the form? of the runners in this race.  Mountain Train which runs after a long lay-off after its winter adventure looks like a contender here purely based on its track form,but as always its a lottery to assume if the horse after a lay off can put up a winning gallop just after returning or will it need this run? Mumbai Thursday races 12/12/13 a Analysis and Selections

Hello Friends,                       The mid-week racing card at Mumbai consists a compact card of 7 races,here is my analysis and selections for the day  Race no 1:Class V race over 1200 mts  Ancient Odyssey  which won its last start in the same class over the same distance now gets a positive switch in rider,as most of the field is out of relative form,this horse has a fair chance to repeat here Polar Zone  which has earlier shown some spark is now getting a guidance from a top jockey,has run decently in its previous runs too,no tracks are seen and that is my only worry  But one horse which caught the eye during its last run is  SHOWERS OF HEAVEN, it had a forward run in a large field with Dharmendar on top and was calling the shots until they crossed the 200 mts marker over a 7f trip,now with a benifit of that run and a switch to jockey,shapes as a decent chance bet for the day  MY CHOICE:#...
