The Bangalore 2000 guineas Day 14/12/13 Analysis and Selections
Hello Friends,
Classic day at Bangalore,A card of 9 races awaits us and here is my bit of analysis and my personal fancies for the day
Race no 1:A class IV race over 1200 mts
A very tricky race to start off the day,no horse has any shimmer of form whatsoever running in this set, hope that the winner must be from this trio of Nayan Star,Masked Marvel and Aero Star.
MASKED MARVEL and NAYAN STAR both are similar in one thing and that is both have failed when fancied, the later now gets a jockey from Mumbai in Amyn Merchant and thus there is intent seen on this horse
But Aero Star is a horse that can topple the more fancied horses,it has the pull in weights due to the claimer and also has had a good spurt couple of days back, hopes he fares well and is my choice for an e/w bet here
My Choice:#6 Aero Star for an e/w bet
Race no 2:A class IV race over 1400 mts (4 yo+)
Spanish Fly which is about to make its second career start did not have a good debut,Jockey Anjar Alam was questioned regarding the handling of his mount SPANISH FLY in the above race in the presence of Trainer Mr. Irfan Ghatala. The Jockey stated that soon after jumping out, the horse was trying to go in giving an impression that it was lame. That is why he did not urge his mount and collected it and rode. The Trainer stated that this horse had a tendon problem throughout and that is why he did not race till now and this was its first run in its career as a 4 year old. As regards the handling of his charge by the rider concerned, he felt that Jockey could only explained properly. The horse was impounded for veterinary examination and after due examination, the Club's Veterinary Officer reported at about 5.30 p.m. that the horse was lame on left fore. Under the circumstances the trainer and the Jockey were given the benefit of doubt in view of the ailment reported. Trainer Mr. IrfanGhatala was informed to produce Fitness Certificate before accepting with it again.
With this history behind it Spanish Fly at these odds is simply not a kind of risk I would like myself to take irrespective of how the result may turn out to be.
Jaanvi ran a good second to the youngster Santa Ana and now in its own age class can run a good race
However there are two other horses in the fray that may do well here
Dance with me which has improved with every run this season gets a huge switch in saddle support and on that count can be considered
Taylor Made which won its last start although penalised should relish the step up in distance and being a same class winner and retaining the same winning jockey aboard will be my personal fancy in this race
My Choice:#4 Taylor Made for Win
Race no 3:A class III race over 1200 mts (4yo+)
The race should in most probability be confined to the trio is Simpleton (who finished a good second in the same class in its last run and now gets a claimer on it) Nocturnal Hunter (whose last victory was good and has it in him to repeat) and Ethopian (who scored a impressive win last time out and is now on promotion)
The last run of Ethopian was impressive,it has been penalised 23 points for that effort and is on promotion,I believe that this horse can defy this penalty and win this race.
My Choice:#3 Ethopian for Win
Race no 4:A class IV race over 1200 mts
Vigorous a maiden winner over 1100 mts in its last start seems like the one eyeryone has to beat here, with a top jockey in Suraj Narredu astride has a decent enough chance to score here especially with its running style being supported with its inside draw
King of the court which has weights in his favour is racing after quite sometime now,his previous run where it finished behind Sovereign Rule has produced some subsequent winners,David Allan gets this mount as his first ride of the season,on weights well placed here
Spiritofchartedwell won in the same class last time out in a very good manner, although penalised for that effort the manner in which it won leading all the way and also drawn not too far away from the rails deserves to be nominated as The Best Chance Bet Of The Day
My Choice:#1 Spiritofchartedwell For Win
Race no 5:Class I race over 1800 mts
Auburn Beauty which has run some terms races over the recent last finished 7th behind Panamera in the fillies and mares championship at Pune over the same trip and on that count is the default contender here over this trip.
Camorra hasn't been consistent but if it hits the front can very well finish 1-2,the jockey hasn't shown any hint of his skills yet and will have to watch how he fares here
Sun Kingdom and Ratham both ran behind the 3 yo Turf Striker and finished close to each other, weights favour the latter and at these weights has a fair enough chance.
My choice here is Auburn Beauty, has been tracking well and if those tracks are of any suggestion can put in a bold show here and win this class I race.
My Choice:#6 Auburn Beauty for win
Race no 6:A class III race over 1200 mts (4yo+)
Nessie,Samara Sun and Lads Gladiator all have run in class II in the recent past and are now running here on demotion,Samara sun has a run benifit this season and with a claimer has the pull in weights to run a good race here
But the ? Really is,how well will Sans Frontiers which is now under a 30 point penalty fare,it won against some youngsters and one of whom is a contender in the 2000 guineas. On that basis and a positive switch of jockey can run a good race
My Choice:#7 Sans Frontiers for win
Race no 7:The Bangalore 2000 guineas (Gr.2) over 1600 mts (3yo)
After Mariinsky's facile victory in the 1000 guineas, the 2000 guineas has a superstar in the lineup in Southern Emperor
Southern Emperor after winning its maiden race drifting out under Fr.Da.Silva against Charlatan and co did no wrong on its next two starts annexing both the races and one amongst then a Gr.1 derby, with that kind of aura surrounding it coming into this race,is the horse that has to be beaten here for the title
Pros:Excellent formline, same winning jockey astride, winner of the fastest run mile race ever accross the country
Cons:Never won at Bangalore before, some discredit its last run under slushy underfoot conditions
Turf Striker which finished second during the Bangalore Summer Derby and later lost its form and shape won a class I race easily over this trip and is the second best horse on record in this set
Pros:Showed class during Bangalore summer season, switch to a big-occasion jockey, benifit of a run this season
Cons:Setbacks after the derby, distance might be a little sharp for its liking
On known form these two horses stand tall, then there are the upcoming ones, the ones form which is on the incline in
Invincible Prince, from the yards of Padmanaban did win his last start well and comes into contention here
Pros:From a yard which wins classic races at will, switch to a international jockey and recent winning form
Cons:Immature, lost to an older horse at the beginning of the season.
Sovereign Rule which has only 3 starts to its credit is a winner of 2 races, incidentally both at Bangalore, the only horse to get the better of Southern Emperor
Pros:Recent form, winning jockey retained, horse for the course, run benifit this season
Cons:Inexperience, going over a mile for the first time
Among others Ambitious Reward which also has a decent chance to run well here and Nabisco which gets Jimmy Fortune on the saddle should reverse the verdict which may be too big a task
The winner in my opinion should in all possibility be from Southern Emperor,Turf Striker or Sovereign Rule
Sovereign Rule which has 2/2 wins from its last two starts seems to be in good shape,I have been following this horse from its second start (although the running style of Southern Emperor on the only time they met together suggests that mile will be suited to SE) I am inclined to take a chance on Sovereign Rule and it is more of a personal favourite and I sincerely hope that he puts in a brave show
My Choice:#7 Sovereign Rule for E/W bet
Race no 8:Class V race over 1200 mts
Summer Sensation the lone 3 yo old with some semblance of form with a switch to a top jockey with a good jockey-trainer combination with the trainer and a decent last track with the same jockey means this is clearly the logical choice for the race.
But it won't be a cakewalk as horses like You are a star which has finished close to the winner on itsast start and Regal Soldier (good on tracks) and Wing Commander (switch to a positive jockey and relative recent form) are in the fray.
You're a Star has run a suggestive last race and should place here and may upset in this bottom class race
My Choice:#10 You are a star (upset)
Race no 9:For 2 yo maidens over 1200 mts
Majestic Opinion out of DixieUnion-Khalila is putting in some nice spurts and is being prepared well for a good debut
Eragon also a got abroad seems to working well too and with David Allan atop has a decent chance too
West side Story and Ruler Secret both from the same yard are also putting in some nice work, the former especially can surprise here
But Majestic Opinion seems to be bred well and with its backing of some nice trackworks can make it a winning debut
My Choice:#8 Majestic Opinion
Day's Best:Majestic Opinion
Other good bets:Spiritofchartedwell,Ethopian and Auburn Beauty
Upsetter:Sovereign Rule
Have a nice day,gamble responsibly
Good morn Sirocco
ReplyDeletePlease if you like suraj's mount do not go for direct win. Cover your bet by playing place. Seriously I do not like him and have any trust on him. Last time I lost on John in HYD but got a cover bet on Suraj for shp on galiat. Now please my frnd, Your statement each way on Sovereign Rule is the perfect choice.
I am just not able to digest , will Mallya go for the prime spot. He is trouncing every1. But again, most of the time ... I have cashed mallya for shp. Very few times I touch him for win.
Its just my opinion, Rest of the choices looks very good.
Best wishes. Do the best.
Good morn Thunderstrikeji,
DeleteThank you for replying for my post sir,yes i do believe that Sovereign Rule will be in the top 3 and so. an e/w bet with more emphasis on place will be what I am going to do. All the best an have a nice day sir
Mr. Sirocco
ReplyDeleteWhy not crack jackpot. For the 8th race you said
Summer Sensation the lone 3 yo old with some semblance of form with a switch to a top jockey with a good jockey-trainer combination with the trainer and a decent last track with the same jockey means this is clearly the logical choice for the race.
But it won't be a cakewalk as horses like You are a star which has finished close to the winner on itsast start and Regal Soldier (good on tracks) and Wing Commander (switch to a positive jockey and relative recent form) are in the fray.
Regal soldier. Do you know the exacta was carried over. And I had played each way on Claara and benedict. My frnd I salute to you. You got all the winners, a little more focus on spotting winners. I am telling you, you are the boss.
We will try our best for tommo. But I need you to post your write up,its very helpful for me to decide... my final selections.
And congratz on crossing 50,000 views.
best wishes.
Dear Thunderstrike,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all thank you and am glad that my blog has resched 50 k views, for a fresh blogger like me who has bo big follow base i consider myself lucky! I made a mistake by banking Sans Frontiers and lost the jp! Had winners of all the remaining legs, infact another two horses would have cost me another 480 bucks as lluck would have it i wasnt fortunate! My analysis will be up by midnight in 120 mins from now!
When i started this blog there was negativity all around, people wanted readymade winners and i am glad that a person like you whom i always has respect for is encouraging me to do well!
Thanks a ton for that
