Mumbai Thursday races 12/12/13 a Analysis and Selections

Hello Friends,
The mid-week racing card at Mumbai consists a compact card of 7 races, here is my analysis and selections for the day

Race no 1:Class V race over 1200 mts

Ancient Odyssey which won its last start in the same class over the same distance now gets a positive switch in rider,as most of the field is out of relative form, this horse has a fair chance to repeat here

Polar Zone which has earlier shown some spark is now getting a guidance from a top jockey, has run decently in its previous runs too,no tracks are seen and that is my only worry

But one horse which caught the eye during its last run is SHOWERS OF HEAVEN,it had a forward run in a large field with Dharmendar on top and was calling the shots until they crossed the 200 mts marker over a 7f trip, now with a benifit of that run and a switch to jockey, shapes as a decent chance bet for the day

MY CHOICE:#6 Showers of heaven for win/place

RACE NO 2:Class II race over a mile

Two horse contest over a mile,Gerome which was campaigned during the Bangalore season and a winner of a race there had returned to form winning a class III race over 9f at Pune before going down in the Kingfisher Derby. Now with Zervan in the saddle again and a recent gallop to its name,is the horse to be beaten here

The ? Really here is can Zoraavar get the better of Gerome,as once when they were pitched together very early in their career carrying similar weights both finished close together (only 2.5 lts separating these two) this horse has since not races in Bangalore summer yet raced at Pune and won two class III races back to back, has a benifit of a run here against Starry Eyes and can make the tables turn this time around.

My Choice:#3 Zoraavar for Win

Race no 3:A class V race over 2000 mts

Arzaan which gave a beating to youngsters in an open class V race is pitched in again in a short span of time with the same jockey aboard and a step up in distance,a win is not completely ruled out.

But Skylantern(a forward run last time out over the same distance in the upper class) which shapes as an outsider along with two prime contenders in

SHISHYA:After running third over a mile, now gets a change in jockey who incidentally is also tracking the animal in its last three workouts and being a 3 yo has a good chance here

Ricochet:Which is also a three year old, came up well from behind over 1200 mts to finish on board in its last run and with its recent trackworks highly suggestive, can run a bold race too.

The winner in my honest opinion should be from the above discussed two horses,of the two my preference is on RICHOCHET as its last spurt is highly suggestive of a good performance over this extended trip, this progeny of Sedgefield can get the trip and with some luck can get past the favourite too.

MY CHOICE:#4 Ricochet For WIN

Race no 4:A class III race over 2000 mts

Highraz which ran third to Montreal last time out is now well placed on the scales to exploit the weights and put up a brave show especially with the positive switch of pilot

Fortune Favours and Cactus Cash both have it in them to travel the distance and on their day can be quite a force to reckon with but tomorrow may just not be their day.

Archie which lost its bit last time out is now being pitched by the trainer within a gap of 2 weeks,in a class where it won and a step up in the distance,if one ignores the last run has the best chance in the field to come up trumps, hope the trainer has done his job and has sent out his ward in top condition.

MY CHOICE:#1 ARCHIE FOR WIN

Race no 5:A class III race over 1000 mts

This class III race over 1000 mts has four main contenders in Brindaban,Fontanelle,Quick Fire and Invincible

BRINDABAN has a benifit of a run this season, with the same jockey last time out showed the way for almost 3/4th parts of the 1200 mts trip. Now with the same claimer aboard should run a good race

Fontanelle which won its maiden class race very comfortably is now placed well in this class III race, working well on the tracks too and is the número uno contender here

Quick Fire which lost out to Trisara on its last start now gets a switch in jockey to Jimmy Fortune, has a decent chance if not an overwhelming one to comeup trumps here

Invincible which is on course for a hat-trick is sure to carry its form from Pune to here,as 3 yo's are in the incline after they hit form it is impossible to ignore then for their penalties, this horse especially is a same class winner and on that logic has the best chance to put up a good show here and should edge out Fontanelle

MY CHOICE:#2 INVINCIBLE FOR WIN

RACE NO 6:A class IV race over a mile (4yo+)

Razeena which has had quite a decent Pune season in which it saw its once conqueror Antonious Maximus moving up in the ratings scoring some fine wins, although this filly was once a classic contender has failed innumerable times, the distance of a mile may be sharp to its liking too and as such I will be surprised if it wins here, can place at its best

MoonRaker which is a last start winner can spice up the finish too but the handicap is too stiff in my opinion

Then there is HOT PEPPER and MONTERAY,both of them have put in some eye-catching runs in their recent outings the former gets a huge switch in saddle support and for the latter a good show is just around the corner

But Ice Cool is working extremely good on the tracks, this well bred horse has it in him to throw up a surprising result here,I am suggesting this horse purely based on his last spurt which is suggestive, the negatives as such is that this horse has skipped an entire racing season, would be good if one keeps an eye on the weights and paddock looks if possible.

My Choice:#5 ICE COOL WIN/PLACE

RACE NO 7:A 1200 mts class IV race (4yo+)

The controversial SOMBERERO is now being ridden by an apprentice jockey and based on its last run where the jockey himself had said that his effort was feeble is the horse to be beaten here

Matrioshka despite the weights can get the better of it in my honest opinion and can put up a repeat performance.

But Sherlock Holmes,EMERALD FORTUNE and Mateus Rose have run against and finished close to some good youngsters and can be prominent at the finish

Nicanor will be right there at the busy end too

But any horse which has finished close to 10 lengths behind Silver Arrow is a threat to all, after running few forward races before Ménage A Trios now gets a beautiful way to resume its winning ways, has quite a chance to go last the wire first in this seemingly most open race of the day

My Choice:#3 Ménage A Trios For win

Day's Best:Ricochet

Good bets:Archie,Ménage A Trios

Have a nice day gamble responsibly

  7. Dear Thunderstrike,
Thanks a lot for your appreciation, when Invincible made a move for a brief period of time I thought it will pull it off same was the case with showers of heaven and both lost by very close margins,as you call it that was fate. Allegiance wasn't a shocker for me
