Pune 03/08/14 Analysis and Selections
A card of 9 races awaits the race goers at Pune, here is my analysis and personal fancies,As Pune season is still in its early days,I would like to tell the readers of my blog to be a little cautious!
Race no 1:A race for horses in class V over 1200 mts
Admiral Gray was the horse I tipped when it ran last time out, unfortunately the rider got dislodged from the horse, technically speaking its the best if the youngster in this set and should be the one they all have to beat, the negative is the young claimer on top who hasn't done much in his career, the call is yours
Mt Tianmen has the best form coming into this race, active in the tracks, ran a good forward race in its pnueltimate start, has a fair chance to do well
Of the other older lot two horses catch the eye,Autumn Love and Always There, both horses are seen to be working very well in the track spurts and as no horse has any reasonable form to go by,the track trails are the only indication if the horses current fitness and form. Of the two Always There has been prepared with many track trials and is the best of the two, just because I am assuming that the horse will be more fitter and the weights will have a final say in this race
My Choice:#9 Always There for win
RACE NO 2:A race for horses in class III (5yo+) over 1200 mts
Pepe Senior the horse to be beaten here is running with too many horses that it beat during Mumbai season,it will take some effort to give them all a beating in this race, but the fact is that this horse still remains the one to be beaten in this race
Sheer Romance,Alecto and National Pride are the three horses from which I expect a winner and my personal fancy is Alecto, because the horse seems to be working well on the trial tracks,a decent jockey aboard and most importantly seems to have the scales slightly in its favour this time around,as I expect good odds and only two payouts, worth taking an e/w chance
My Choice:#6 Alecto for win/Place
RACE NO 3:A Class II race over a mile
The horse to be beaten in this race is Victoria Falls, simply because she is active in the trial tracks, running at bottom weights with best saddle support
However Celtic King who has no track spurts whatsoever is the joker in this race, keep an eye
Then there is Barringo who may find this distance a bit long, but for horses like these small fields will alter the pace equation and may very well help in overcoming that,as far as I am concerned this horse has the best apprentice jockey aboard and at best may place
But then my personal fancy however is Sheer Class,an absolutely classy filly, not active on the tracks but then no harm in taking a chance if odds are reasonable,as this horse has the inherent class factor and if its fit should score here
My Choice:#4 Sheer Class for win
RACE NO 4:A class IV race over 1400 mts
Zurich on most probability should canter home in this race,it is tracking well along a class II animal, has the jockey in form and is coming out of a terms race to a class IV handicap, quite a jump. The very fact that the horse has been gelded and this is the first run after being gelded are to be factored while wagering a bet.
Of the older lot,Suntan Beauty seems to be best prepared,is also having decent form coming into this race
Then there is Archimedes and Oriental Masti trainer and ridden by Mumbai champion trainer and jockey respectively, cannot be completely ignored.
My Choice:#3 Suntan Beauty Place
Race no 5:A race for class IV horses over 1400 mts
Once again the lone 3 yr old in this race stands tall, had matched strides with elite company and should carry the top weight home barring any mishap or blunder by the jockey aboard
Stiletto seems to be the next best horse in this field, then there is Angel In The Sky who did not win last season despite being favoured a lot,has all the ability to throw a surprise here, keep an eye
Then there is Dancing Splendour who won his start start in a good fashion, seen in the trial tracks and retains the winning jockey, has a fair chance to place
My Choice:#5 Dancing Splendour place
RACE NO 6:A class IV race (3yo) over 1400 mts
Tropa Bella in my view is the horse to beat in this race, positive saddle support, decent track spurts and a possibility of an improved second lifetime start are its positives
However there are three winner of maiden class running in this race,I may be wrong but the winner should be one amongst the theee,Weatphalia is a fluent winner in Bangalore and will be fit for the fray,Shivalik Breeze is now sporting a new equipment, his last win was spectacular and Flashing Cheiftan is having strong saddle support this time out and is also seemingly prepared well for this race,my pick is Flashing Cheiftan whom I think can account for this set, being a winner of 7f maiden previously very easily
My Choice:#2 Flashing Chieftan win
RACE NO 7:A race for 3 yo maidens over 1200 mts
Quizical who ran a good second in this season, now steps up in distance and is retaining the same jockey aboard, now with extra distance to travel and a run benifit this season is the horse to beaten here
Two horses in the Mistry silks Draco and Sweet As Honey can also be considered for the top honours, the former who is out of Phoenix Tower is prefered
Apache who ran a very controversial race last time out was declared a non-starter,now change in jockey and again not spotted in tracks, has a fair chance if one goes by his debut performance
And then there is a debutant in Pure Bliss who is an unknown in this race, the presence of Sandesh and decent track works suggests that this horse will be in the firing lane
Quizical's last run was pretty decent for a debutant, and the fact that the trainer has given him a chance immediately the next week shows that this is the horse they all have to beat, also Apache the mystery horse should give a good account of himself,my choice however is the former
My Choice:#11 Quizical for Win
RACE NO 8:A class IV race over 1000 mts
The two youngsters in Mystic Sunrise and Iridescence has done nothing of note, the former is a flukers fancy as its tracks spurts are of somewhat a positive aspect
However on known form the race is between the age old warrior Titeleist (who after interference in its last run gets a 3.5 kg claimer) My Freedom (who after a win in maiden class has come down a lot in scales, latest trackwork and jockey switch are its positives) and Gran Amigo (Who has decent winter form to go by)
La Traviata is the dark un here, was good in its early days has plenty if early speed
This is such an open affair, however I feel Titleist who has a run benifit and a claimer has an edge but Gran Amigo has the form and age in its favour
My Choice:#1 Gran Amigo for win
RACE NO 9:A race for class IV horses over 1000 mts
Unlike the other race, the 3 yo's in this race have shown spark of form and have won or placed, thus in most probability the winner should be from these horses
Zeda second to Ladybird in a terms race, best saddle support and active in tracks, certainly the horse to be beaten in this set
Peppercorn the last start winner is the immediate danger, has a good track spurt, keep an eye
But then I think two serious contenders in Hudson Hawk and Heart of The City who are coming out of a race where in Greek God had the last laugh,of the two HOTC seems to be having an edge thanks to the weight advantage due to a claimer on top and is my personal fancy for this race
My Choice:#5 Heart of the city Win
DAY's BEST:FLASHING CHEIFTAN
DOUBLE:Always There - SHEER CLASS
Upsetter:Alecto
Have a nice day,gamble responsibly
