Bangalore Derby Day Analysis and Selections

Hello Friends, 
                   First of all I wish all fellow Countrymen A very Happy Republic Day,and by tradition the Banglore derby is slated to run on this day of historic importance,the day has a card of 9 races and here is my analysis and personal preferences for the upcoming races 

Race no 1:A class IV race over 1200 mts 

Vigorous which happens to be a winner in maiden class ran a decent race in its last outing,now enjoys a switch in jockey to John and is certainly the horse to be beaten in this race 

Although there are horses such as Summer Sensation (good 2nd in the lower class as a fav) Blackbird (ignore last run,before that ran a very good race to finish second to CANNES) and Tradition (whose recent track spurts are very suggestive) I would like to put my money on Prazsky,primarily because of the set it encounters in this race and secondly because of its running style in previous races which suggests that on a classic day it will suit the front-running style,the JWDL in most probability will be PS Chouhan and with a top jockey like him at the saddle can be expected to run a very good race

My Race:#8 Prazsky for win 

RACE NO 2:A race for 3 yo only over 1400 mts 

On previous runs the Fairwood Park and Supreme Dominator standout,the running style suggests that the latter can fare better and with Suraj to guide chances are rosy 

However a glance through the pedigree of the horses suggests that Southern Fantasy the filly from the yard of Ganapthy is bred in half to the Oaks winning superstar filly Smashing and on that count can be expected to run well on debut here and is my personal fancy in this race,however the only factor that seems against it is the jockey declared to ride and mediocre track spurts however if this filly posses class can spring a surprise a chance bet 

My Choice:#10 Southern Fantasy Win/Place 

RACE NO 3:A Terms Race for horses 4yo+ over a mile 

Immense the gusty miler from the yard of Arjun Manglorkar inspite of its back breaking weight is the horse to look out for in this race,with its last run over a 7f trip eyecatching and recent spurts well augured for should run a good race 

On inherent class factor this horse faces according to me only two rivals in Equine Lover and Super Storm, the former won its first start this season and has been running well over 7f trips was a classic winner over this distance and coming from a shrewd trainers yard cannot be ignored 

And then there is Super Storm the hero of last years Indian Derby who is running for the first time this season,visible on the tracks with a mockrace thus guessing that the horse is for and well,on sheer class alone can make a race out of it 

My Choice:#2 SuperStorm for Win 

RACE NO 4:A class IV race over 1200 mts 

CANNES fought hard in its last but one run against Blackbird to win by a short margin,although the horse now gets back to its winning rating thanks to the claimer on top,I guess to win again will be a hard task if not impossible 

That leaves me with Jackie Oh the fluent winner on debut from a improbable position over 1100 mts,the runs after its debut were not that impressive,taking into effect the field it faces here and the switch in pilot can hope to win here 

The three lower class winners in Cheddar Face,Jer Set Go and Oriental Star this current season,the wins of the first two named looked good on the eye and they can be hoped to fare well here 

Gagan Star is the joker in the pack as despite its age has initial speed to stay on here 

Arta which has come down from the Western Indian Circuit has shown early speed in its short career,with only one track visible in Bangalore the intent is at ? However based on its tidy handicap and running style can hope to care well and on that count is my personal fancy for the race 

MY CHOICE:#9 Arta for Win/Place 

RACE NO 5:A race for class III horses over 1400 mts (5 yo+) 

Ice Cutter which has a 2/2 record until now is the lowest priced runner as per the night odds,can it extend its winning run is now for us to speculate,with the same jockey astride and retained in the same class as its positives and the weight it is about to carry as a negative,the odds are too low for comfort 

Of the other horses Athletic star,Chiron,Wrekin,Amazon Bay and Summer Sun all run with good chances to upset the applecart 

Athletic Star is on demotion now but its runs in the upper class were good,if one ignores its last run,has a good chance to place 

The dark un is Summer Sun please add in your pools 

My Choice:#1 Athletic Star for place 

RACE NO 6:A class II race over a mile 

The two youngsters in AUMENTO and Strike The Stars are up against some good horses in this mile race. 

Ratham is stepping down in class and is carrying weight,has a good jockey to guide its fortunes 

Potomac will be in all probability ridden by PS Chouhan,a horse in which he had won before,top jockey bottom handicap combination 

Ice Storm also looks good on prep and jockey declared and on that count should be considered a leading contender here 

My personal fancy is Ratham although being a bleeder I guess it finds itself amongst a set it can tackle and possibly win too 

My Choice:#2 Ratham for win 

RACE NO 7:THE BANGALORE DERBY GR.1 

The main race of the season,has a decent field and thus without any superstar reputation horses in the fray will be an open affair. 

The two 'glorious' horses in the fray Agostini and The Ministerian are expected to hear the betting charts. 

Agostini is a horse I have been following from the Summer season,it did fall on the Hyd 2000 guineas but then recovered well in its immediate start to score a victory over older established horses and with that in mind is the horse to be beaten in this race 

The Ministerian who is one of the two raiders in this race is coming out a good win in class II over 2000 mts,gets the stables first jockey on board and its fast finishing fourth to Jeremiah at the Pune derby suggests that it will enjoy the extended trip 

Czar of Romance has been running some in and out races,unlike the first two mentioned horses this horse has been running with top company in almost all its races,gets Sandesh again and as he has proved many times as the man on a big occasion,cannot ignore 

Sur La Te who is the sole classic winner also boosts its reputation after Roses in Bloom won the hyd derby retains the same jockey and should be there at the all important end 

Arrogant Approach ran an eyecatching fourth at the hyd derby,another horse whose running style suggests that it will enjoy the trip 

Ambitious Reward comes as default choice due to its third behind Southern Emperor and Turf Striker at the Bangalore 2000 guinneas,gets Suraj on the saddle and with its sire throwing winners don't be surprised if it wins 

Also Supreme Regime which showed initial promise was used as a pace setter in its latter starts,the bomb if any 

I personally prefer Ambitious Reward over others and believe that it can place here and with some luck may be able to pull off too

My Choice:#5 Ambitious Reward Win/Place 

RACE NO 8:A Class IV race over 1400 mts

Dofantasy an easy winner in its last start is now running with a claimer on top,its last win was easy to the eye and is the horse to be beaten here 

Regal Soldier is also in some good form this season,coming into this race with a win and second,the jockey aboard will also play a good part in this race 

Cheval D Or is relatively sparingly raced in this set,working well and can be there at the busy end 

Frankness which won its last race is now seemingly placed well to land the spoils again,with the same jockey retained the chances do look rosy 

The winner should in most probability be from the above mentioned horses,this is a tricky race and my choice here is REGAL SOLDIER 

My Choice:#2 Regal Soldier for win 

RACE NO 9:A class III race over 1400 mts (5 yo+)

Simpleton because of its positive switch in jockey,Click on account of its rousing last start win and claimer atop Magnomical because of its consistent decent shows and Zermatt who is running for the second time after changing stable where the last run was suggestive of a good show are the possible contenders to win this race 

However my view is that Ballantoy which also ran third in its last race against a youngster,now retained at the same rating with the same jockey should put up an improved performance 

My choice:#3 Ballantoy for win/place

Bangalore selections and analysis 27/07

Race no 1: A race for class V horses over 1200 mts On the outset this race looks extremely tricky thanks to the the form? of the runners in this race.  Mountain Train which runs after a long lay-off after its winter adventure looks like a contender here purely based on its track form,but as always its a lottery to assume if the horse after a lay off can put up a winning gallop just after returning or will it need this run? But it is prepared extensively ignore at will That brings me back to two horses which have relatively good form in Will still and Star of desire ,both have reasonable form and the latter a demotee with a switch in jockey has come down a lot in ratings  My choice:#1 Star of Desire for Win  Race no 2:A race for Class V horses over 1200 mts Upper division of the previous race,the field is comprised of many youngsters,here too form is not seen in plenty  Rubi Rey ,which ran in the upper class finished fourth to My Faviurite voice, now drops down in gra...

Mumbai Thursday races 12/12/13 a Analysis and Selections

Hello Friends,                       The mid-week racing card at Mumbai consists a compact card of 7 races,here is my analysis and selections for the day  Race no 1:Class V race over 1200 mts  Ancient Odyssey  which won its last start in the same class over the same distance now gets a positive switch in rider,as most of the field is out of relative form,this horse has a fair chance to repeat here Polar Zone  which has earlier shown some spark is now getting a guidance from a top jockey,has run decently in its previous runs too,no tracks are seen and that is my only worry  But one horse which caught the eye during its last run is  SHOWERS OF HEAVEN, it had a forward run in a large field with Dharmendar on top and was calling the shots until they crossed the 200 mts marker over a 7f trip,now with a benifit of that run and a switch to jockey,shapes as a decent chance bet for the day  MY CHOICE:#...
