INVITATION WEEKEND DAY-2

Hello Friends,
Here are my views for day 2 of the invitation weekend which features the Big one THE INDIAN TURF INVITATION CUP (GRADE I)

Race 1:A race for 3yo maidens to open the day,Aaron The Baron/Cantabria/Minniver Rose/Queen Latifa/Sheer Magic being my shortlisted contenders,Queen Latifa had a decent debut and with that run under her belt should do well in the opener of the day.

My Choice:#12 Queen Latifa Win

Race 2:A class IV race over an absorbing trip of 1800mts and to be frank this race is quite open with both the URBB horses in the hunt, the choice of jockey on Chloe should not be a dampener as i feel it can do well over this trip, also Jersey Beauty after a good lung opener has a change in jockey and is the prime contender here,Flirting Eyes is another horse with some good chance to clear its maiden ranks,a tough call to make but I'm going with a yard that is firing all season in Jersey Beauty.

My Choice:#4 Jersey Beauty Win

Race 3:A Multi Million for horses in their sophomore year,Malawi is bred well and won with a lot in reserve from the back of the back last start and her form was franked yesterday and as such is the logical choice in this race,on class hierarchy however there is a million winner in Silver Ikon who needs to be respected

My Choice:#4 Malawi Win

Race 4:Although an handicap this races could prove to be a thriller as some semi-classic prospects of this crop and yesteryear are in the fray,Watchmyscript/Mystic Music/Namid/Fabulous/Sporting Pleasure/Bold March being my shortlisted contenders and one can make a good case for any ot these horses mentioned here,I'm going for the horse at the bottom of the scales which may run at an overweight of a kilo or so because it has finished close in the Bangalore Summer Derby and then finished behind Ice Glacier and Serjant At Arms in the Mysore Derby, thus on formlines, staying ability and more importantly the handicap this horse appeals as a value bet for the day

My Choice:#15 Bold March Win/Place

Race 5:The Suresh Mahindra Multi-Million Trophy (Gr.2)

Acclaimed is considered to be one of frontrunners to bag this race, the terms of this race warrant Gr.1 winners to carry more weights and as such it remains to be seen if he could give weight and a beating to this field

Bold Command has been running some good races in the recent past and placed second in the Super Mile last year and it is virtually a step down in class from last year, this horse is 2/2 this season at Bangalore over the 1400m and as such the terms of the race seem to be in his favour,a live contender in the fray

Your Royal Majesty is on a hat-trick for this race having won this very race at Bombay followed it by winning at Chennai,Horse was seen warming up late in the Sprinters cup and with the local champion Suraj in the saddle a hat trick is very much on the cards.

Renee was sent to Bangalore from Bombay and was under Neil Darashah who made this horse what he is today and with 5 career wins over this trip and a course and distance winner is the upsetter if any in this race.

Fire Glow seems to be in a lack of big race experience but the form and weights should make it gain some attention, keep an eye

My Choice:#3 Your Royal Majesty Win/Place

Race 6:The Major P.K.Mehra Super Mile Gr.1

Serjant At Arms is a local horse and champion of the Bangalore Summer Season, has won the two biggest mile races of the classic crop in the Bangalore Colts championship and The Indian 2000 guineas and is stepping down in distance to what his trainer calls a comfort zone and is easily the major contender here

Mickey Mouse has opted to run here instead of the Suresh Mahindra Million,if this is any indicator then dont take this horse lightly as it could very well run within 1-2-3 given his form and being the local horse

Batallion took the mile feature of the season,The Bangalore 2000 guineas and is from Neil Darashah, horse has a lot of early speed and is a serious contender here and the only hotse that could give SAA a run in my opinion

My Choice:#10 Serjant At Arms Win

Race 7:The Indian Turf Invitational Cup Gr.1

Two years ago when this race was run at Bombay it was the talk of the town, this is a race where great champions were born and lost, for me it is the most romantic race of the year with a great story every year,an equivalent to Breeders Cup Classic

Hall Of Famer is a contender by default as 3 Indian Derby Winners in the last five years have gone on to win this race, can HOF emulate another great filly from the same trainer who won this very race 5 years ago at Bangalore in In The Spotlight is a question which time will answer

Tororosso is well rested after being let loose in the Bangalore straight where he devoured ground to win by a widening margin in the winter derby, with Suraj in the saddle chances look even more brighter. He has to prove against the Indian Derby field and also fight his own temperament. He is an improving horse and that is a positive.

Alaindair lets be honest he is a superstar in his own right, unbeaten at Bangalore and a great performer over 2400m makes him a live contender, statistics dont favour older horses and that is a cause of concern

Temerity, winner of the Indian Oaks and was not too far away from HOF in the Indian derby and that makes her one more contender as she is the that could break the duck for Pesi Shroff as a trainer in the big un

It is a Kind of a race in which anything could happen,Pace will hold the key and tactics will come into play. May the best horse win once again like the Indian Derby am going to pick a horse where my heart is and hope I get Lucky.

My Choice:#8 Tororosso Win

Race 8:Glorious Angel/Justice Angel/Star Comrade being the three youngsters who have also won their races in maiden class should throw a winner in my opinion in this last race of the day,of the three Justice Angel is the local challenger and is the prime contender in my opinion, however Star Comrade is literally stepping down in class and back to his winning trip and as such should be respected.

My Choice:#7 Star Comrade Win

Have a nice day, enjoy competitive racing.......
