Pune Analysis and selections 24/07/2014
Hello Friends,
A card of 9 races have been framed for the opener of the season, here is my analysis and personal fancies for the day
RACE NO 1:A class V race over 1400 mts
Youngsters take on the older lot in the opener of the day, frankly not a very good race to start with as every other horse has one negative or the other.
Of the youngsters its Spear of Trium due to its recent workouts and Delightful Lady who now enjoys a distinct pull in weights appeal the most, however the latter is not active on tracks and thus is a mystery to me,can run either exceedingly good or flop !
Of the older horses Donata seems to be working well, has a switch in saddle support and is seen in the bottom of the scales, has scope to do well
However Star Prince is the only winner in this set of 7 horses, relishes the distance too, there are many youngsters in the fray yet this is the horse to be beaten, trainer known to be stingy in working his horses, worth an e/w chance or skip this race
My Choice:#2 Star Prince for win/place
RACE NO 2:A race for horses in class IV (5yo+) over 1000 mts
HIGHWAY EXPRESS who won its last outing with the same jockey is spurting well in the trail tracks, retains the pilot and is the horse to be beaten in this race
Titeliest is known to come off the pace and score, the jockeys capability is a ? is visible on the tracks and has a fair chance here
Pretty In Patapong won earlier in its career by literally start to finish tactics, may be a danger lurking here yet cannot justify as trainer has four entries in this race and rest depends on the pace equation of this race
Then there is Dreamland who has run a good fourth in its last outing,is a course and distance winner, seen in the tracks and has the best apprentice jockey on board,is my personal fancy for this race
My Choice:#1 Dreamland for win
RACE NO 3:A race for horses in class IV (5yo+) over 1000 mts
Windsor Queen and Song of Africa are two horses that appeal the most based on their formlines in the past, the latter now enjoys distinct advantage in weights thanks to the claimer on top
There are other horses such as the speedsters from the ANTIA yard and one horse in particular Burgundy Rose catches the eye, after running a close sixth to Silsila the horse has been given runs with work jockey over 1400 mts where it hit the front and then faded, now with a gate practice to its credit and a switch in jockey to Trevor Patel, and the drop in ratings with respect to its last decent run seems like the one that can defeat the duo I metioned above,in most probability the winner should arise from these three horses and Burgundy Rose is my personal fancy
My Choice:#7 Burgundy Rose for win
RACE NO 4:A class III race over 1000 mts
Greek God comes into this race with a 3/3 clean sweep, can it extend its winning streak in an open class III race is a ? It is the only youngster in the fray, being guided by Yash Narredu and will jump out from draw 9,can he be opposed is the ?
I am of the opinion that this horse can extend its winning streak here but should be able to put it past or thwart the challenge of Rajsamman who is working extremely well in the trial tracks and will enjoy a better draw and Wasabi who is visible on the tracks enjoys the pull in weights and is being guided by a jockey like Zervan
Again the question arises on whether to back the horse or not,it is ones personal decision,if odds are too low for comfort I will give this race a skip my choice however is Greek God
My Choice:#1 Greek God for win
RACE NO 5:A class III race over 1000 mts
To be honest,Atleast on paper this appears to be a very competitive race. On recent form Silsila appears to be the best of the lot,Tahrir is seen receiving weights this time around after what was a shocking victory a couple of runs ago and there is Mountain Song from the same stable who can surprise gives his earlier runs are suggestive of a good show, watch out for this horse if he fails tomorrow on subsequent runs
Then there is Dreamliner, who is now getting a positive switch in saddle support, was seen running with the pace in earlier races visible in the track trails and is my personal fancy for this race
My Choice:#4 Dreamliner for win
RACE NO 6:A class I race over 1400 mts
This is another puzzling race,Myla Rose won its last outing well, has an unknown apprentice aboard is a horse known to hit the front and run accordingly, cannot be ruled out here
On class alone four horses come into contention The Ministerian,Okawango,Falcon and Dancing Prances, the last two named horses are relatively younger,Falcon in particular is seen having the best chances as the weights he is supposed to carry will come to his aid,Dancing Prances is now ridden by an apprentice but has the inherent class to put it past too,the jump in ratings after its show in the invitation is something to ponder about
Then there is Mountbatten,Heatwave and Zoraavar who have been good handicap horses and in class I now may find it difficult in my opinion to post a victory
My personal fancy in this race howeve is DANCING PRANCES,purely because of the horses it has matched strides with and there are many horses who may find the trip a bit short or long, this horse may find it a bit long but based on its previous run in a Gr.1 race, worth taking a chance
My Choice:#1 Dancing prances for win
RACE NO 7:A race for 3 yo maidens over 1000 mts
Act of Valour who now gets a switch in saddle support and is tracking well is the horse to be beaten in this race,Full Moon is also working well and had been beaten after taking the lead now the drop in distance should help the horse to score its maidens,a fair chance here
However,Elaheh who seems to working pretty well after her debut in An Jolie's race, seems good in the tracks alone,my personal fancy for this race
My Choice:#6 Elaheh for win
RACE NO 8:A race for maiden 3 yo only over 1000 mts
Artiste, who was always a bridesmaid in its earlier starts now faces a field which may very well be the field that can help to clear its maiden,is certainly the horse to be beaten here
Horses like In time and Leothefiercehorse are expected to run a game race
My choice however is a debutante from the yard of Mallesh Narredu, again the working pattern is good and if takes a good jump should run a big race here
My Choice:#11 Quizical for win/place
RACE NO 9:A class IV race over a mile
This is another open race,Forgotten Voice by its virtue of clearing the maidens and now seen in this class in this set is definitely the horse to be beaten here, age trackwork and jockey are in its favour
There are two more younger horses in this fray, with the risk of being proved wrong I expect the winner from one of the three younger horses,Romeo has strong credentials in this race,it was the first winner of this crop during the Mumbai season, has run in two terms races and is now seen running in a class IV handicap, active in the tracks and for the sheer class of horses it has run along with worth taking an e/w chance
My Choice:#4 Romeo for win/place
Days best:Dreamland
Double:Burgundy Rose-Elaheh
Upsetter:Quizical/Romeo
have a nice day,gamble responsibly
Sir Dancing prances wont be in board dont bet I have inside info about it .Regards.Billa
ReplyDeleteHello Sirocco,
ReplyDeleteDancing Prances is a good type and has done well last season. But, do you think it has a good chance at this weight and an out of form rookie on top?
I backed the horse as i felt it had inherent class factor,it ran well and wasnt disgraced in defeat ! Sorry for the late reply as i did not see your comment until the races were over.....
