Hello

Hello friends,
I was away for a majority of the last 3 weeks and so was unable to keep my blogging going as much as I have liked it to........ In the days that went by here are my views of some of the events that took place

The Calcutta Monsoon Derby
The Calcutta Monsson derby saw the victory of Argiano who was written off by most including yours truly and the jockey who rode him too!!! Sporting the colours of the name that is synonymous with Calcutta racing,Argiano called the shots from very early on and prevailed at the end. Stablemate and more fancied Audrick finished second with Arabian Warrior running on to finish third

There is a widespread debate about why the jockey mislead the punters with his statement,I have no opinions on this subject, but then a lesson is learnt that always don't take a word even if its from a top professional as the beauty of racing is for the most part uncertain.

Anyways congrats to the connections for an astounding victory

The Pune Derby
I would like to see this derby from the punters point of view as a battle between two sets of people. On one hand there were the supporters of Jeremiah,7/10 of my friends had backed Jeremiah for win and were so stubborn that Pesi won't let them down, yes it was rather heartening to see how much faith they had on Pesi Shroff! And then there were minority which also includes yours truly who had high hopes on Falcon,Bombardier or Majestic Reward. A punter friend of mine told me that he had back Jeremiah for win and hedged it with Circle of Life for place! I had posted in indiarace.com's forum that I have made up my mind to back Ministerian whenever he runs next and duly backed him with a 1000 win and 2000 place bet! He finished fourth

Setting aside my misfortune,it was clearly evident that majority of people had broad smiles on their face and were screaming Jeremiah almost at tandem when the horse went past Majestic Reward and took over the running,he won the derby in style and his stablemate ran second. With Celtic King just holding on from Ministerian (My bad!)

What really amazed me is the manner of victory of Jeremiah, the grey gelding almost decimated the field with such ease and add to the fact that he had just won a derby 11 days ago at Hyderabad. Jeremiah has truly made the upcoming classics at Mumbai interesting. With Pesi Shroff saying that he will target the gelding for the Indian Derby,it is highly unlikely that Jeremiah will cross swords with Alaindair, the later would be the ante-post favourite if there is ante-post at India. If both of them maintain their known form it will be a mouthwatering battle

What Lies Ahead
With the Mysore Derby just around the corner and the winter season of Mumbai and Bangalore fast approaching there is plenty of action to look forward to,especially the classics.I am so curious about two horses in particular Murioi and Starry Eyes, the two failures during the Bangalore Summer meeting after a rather promising start. If the Son of Dubawi gets his act right then he will be a live threat to all. Starry eyes promised a lot early on and it would be interesting to see how she takes to racing after her break.

What do you think friends?

Also I guess I would be back to blogging and hopefully from Friday's Pune races! Until then see ya

    1. Dear Anonymous,
Honest Pleasure in my opinion did not run to its best, there was no tracks after its last run and guess it wasnt fully fit. This horse will pay back later.
