The Cambay Tiger Sundowner-Day 2 (Analysis and Selections)
Hello Friends,
Sunday's card is a well filled nine race affair and the last three races will be held under floodlights, here is my analysis of the same and my personal fancies
Race 1:For 3yo Maidens over 1000m
Aizaan who is making his debut is seemingly prepared well and is decently bred,he should be one of the main contenders in this race
Corabella is the horse that appeals a lot due to the change in jockey in the saddle, the jockey is in red hot form and the jockey-trainer combo seems to be working well too,the top contender in this race
Desert Lily made a very good run against the too good Christmas Eve in its last start, the fact that it made all the running makes it an interesting contender here, more so because it takes a dip in trip. The concern of course is the jockey on board
Jeannie is another debutant who has caught the eye due to some good track preps,it is also bred well and is facing a set which it might be able to tackle on debut,my personal fancy.
My Choice:#7 Jeannie Win
Race 2:A class II race over 1800m
Small fields over longer trips are more so often decided by race tactics rather than anything else, here we have four horses in the fray and the obvious choice would be the once classic contender The General, this horse will be having a run in a handicap race after some failed efforts in terms/group races, now the question is can it carry the top weight and also tackle the step down in distance
Talking of distance suitability,Honest Pleasure who is a course and distance winner is getting a massive switch in jockey, all its previous runs were against decent company and will be hopefully looking to redeem its reputation here
Another horse which may like this trip is Fortune Hunter, who is coming back to its winning trip,it has two runs this season and both of them were good and as such it has a fighting chance against the hot favourite and is my personal fancy
My Choice:#2 Fortune Hunter Win
Race 3:A class IV race over 1600m
Seven four year olds take on three older horses in this open class iv handicap,of the older horses the obvious pick would be Star of Babylon who is sitting very pretty at the bottom of the scales below its last winning rating and having an ace jockey onboard
Now there are some interesting four year olds in the fray say,Toofan who is coming into this race with a good last effort and is now running with a decent claimer to further improve its chances
Alderly Edge who ran a decent race over the 6f trip is now getting more ground and as such will be one of the leading contenders in the fray.
Although there is the presence of avery good winner in its last start in Ukulele in the fray it is Replica that appeals a lot to make a winning bid in this race,it ran a good race last time out after a lay-off and now with more distance to cover it has a strong chance to win here and is my personal fancy
My Choice:#5 Replica Win
Race 4:A class III race over 1400m
Fast Lady and Cha Cha Cha both having top jockeys to ride them in this race can be termed as top contenders in this race, the latter who is a winner in this class holds a slight advantage in my opinion
Flanker and Lancelot both appeal here again, the latter again seems to have a good advantage here
Mouassaeif is also getting a change in jockey and has been running some decent races, keep an eye
Zambian who won last time out in the lower class from what seemed an impropable position is placed well on promotion,it retains the same jockey and also has some good preparation coming into this race and is my personal fancy
My Choice:#9 Zambian Win
Race 5:A terms race for 3yo over 1200m
Another Conquest and Sugar Bay have already met each other earlier in R.no 119,the former won then however the latter won its next start well and looks like having a good chance to overhaul the former
Multinational is coming into this race with an exposure in a million and it is placed well on the scales, will it handle the extra yard is a matter of perception at this stage
Maleficent won on debut in a good manner, the trainer has prepared it very well and is now retaining the winning jockey again, may well do the trick again,my personal fancy
My Choice:#3 Maleficent Win
Race 6:A race for maiden 3yo over 1000m
Niobrara has been running some decent race, the running pattern at which it leads till the last 100-50m and succumbs the advantage, can it do one better here is to be seen.
The main challenge should come from Shivalik Story who is having a good chance in this set if one goes by the preparations and also the trainers record with juveniles,my personal fancy
My choice:#8 Shivalik Story Win
Race 7:A class V race over 1200m
Grey Mist is coming into this race after winning its last race and being disqualified, meaning its now at the same winning mark and has the same rider again, can it repeat again? or is it worth going against this horse is a matter of personal view
I for one think that this race is quite open with horses like Kickboxer,Nazrana,Rapid Girl and Gold Streak in the fray
I for one think that the main challengers are Kickboxer and Rapid Girl, and the latter seems to better placed on demotion and thus is my personal fancy
My Choice:#5 Rapid Girl Win
Race 8:For class IV horses over 1200m
Logano and Royal Sapphire have both won in the lower class and have been performing decently well in this class and are now being partnered by two ace jockeys of this track
Then there is the presence of Samurai who is getting a change in saddle support, his last run in class IV was over the same trip and in which he did fairly well and as such is a good contender in this race
Thruxton is bred well and comes into this race after a layoff, this horse has been exposed to a couple of mock races and may very well be the upsetter if any in this set, keep an eye
of the two horses mentioned earlier,Logano who has been prepared with a solitary track and having jockey in red-hot form in Trevor Patel makes it my personal fancy
My Choice:#1 Logano Win
Race 9:A class IV race over 1200m
Fribourg gets the top contender status in this race according to me followed by Quick Angel and Gold Bag with Ocean Star and Blue Flame being good outsiders in the fray
According to me on closer scrutiny Gold Bag posses a greater chance in winning this race due to preparation and distance suitability factor and thus is my personal fancy
My Choice:#4 Gold Bag Win
Day's Best:Gold Bag
Good Bets:Replica,Logano
