THE MCDOWELL'S SIGNATURE PREMIUM INDIAN DERBY 2014

Hello Friends, 
                    Its late but still here is my take on the derby today. 

Fifteen horses have accepted to run this covered event,unlike the other three derbies where no visible threat from a got abroad to the home-breds is seen today's races will be a clash between the got-abroads and the homebred's

ACE BUCEPHALUS has not raced since the Mysore derby that is since October,has been shifted to Mumbai very well in advance and his name is mentioned here purely on basis of the mock race he went,if the timing is believable then he is threat to one and all,the proverbial dark un in this bunch 

AGOSTINI won the Bangalore derby in taking style,no wonder that the connections opted to run in the mother of all races,is a live contender no doubt,don't believe that the travel will have any effect but the field here is superior and will be surprised if it pulls off an upset here 

Southern Emperor had a dismal run at the hyd derby and Bangalore 2000 gns,is here to play the second fiddle to its most fancied stablemate,if last run is ignored due to circumstances of the race has a fair chance to run on board as it can stay the distance and has a classy pedigree 

Isn't she special and Circle of life along with Starry Eyes and Keukenhof are coming out of the same race where the first name horse literally stole the derby from the rest,I expect Circle of life to run a grand race from this group and Starry eyes has shown us class and fizzled and now today can it triumph ? I leave it to the imagination of fluke seekers 

Only 3 horses according to stand cut above the horses mentioned here,three very different horses and lets look at them in alphabetical order 

ALAINDAIR (MULTIDIMENSIONAL-GOD'S GRACE) was the summer champion at Bangalore,arguably the best racing season in India. Won his lead up well at Mumbai and went down to Murioi at the 2000 guineas,skipped the Ruia cup and is being silently prepared by its young trainer Altamash Ahmed. They have changed the regular pilot from Sandesh to Y.S.Srinath. The latter I guess has this knack of riding well on big races,stands an excellent chance to be in the top 3 and a fair chance to win 

JEREMIAH out of Jeremy is a Pesi Shroff trained gelding,who has the distinction of winning two monsoon derbies and a sequence of class I races at Mumbai,with Zervan the regular partner in the saddle the horse is expected to do well,he has been a revelation this year and can Pesi win his second derby with this horse,time will tell a live wire 

MURIOI the colt who is the son of Dubawi has the best sire lines in India,irrespective of the result today is still the best bred horse ever to set its foot in India,has conquered the Mumbai turf like Alexander did He came He saw and He conquered and with the jinx associated with the derby and him being the fav the PBMM winner and the Ruia winner it will take a special horse to break the jinx I sincerely wish he wins it,not for the betting and only as a fan of this horse,yes if you go back and see my past postings I have never given up my hopes on this horse,I sincerely wish he wins the Indian Derby today. The only downside is that there is a new jockey aboard and his infamous temperament. I believe that he is a different horse now and will run like a champion and is my personal preference for the derby with a small token bet and enjoy the mother of all races

Pune Races 08/09/2013 Analysis and Selections

Hello friends,                       A card of 8 races have been framed for Sunday,with  The Southern Command Trophy  as the feature event of the day.  Race no 1:A race for horses in class IV (5yo+) over 1400 mts  Matter of heart,Samay Balwan and Star Builder  are the three last outing winners out of the eleven runners in this set,with the former being the winner in the same class and the other two runners are up on promotion. Star builder's  win was pretty easy last time out in the hands of  Dashrath Singh  now on promotion win looks difficult, Samay Balwan  just managed to hold on in the lower class,the same can be said of this horse too  Thus I guess the winner should probably come from this set of horses  Scaramouche,Zaracha,Guns N roses,Brave fighter   Brave fighter  ran third behind  Cypress point  during its only run this season,gets  Trevor Patel  in the saddle,placed well on scales here may spring a surprise  Zaracha  ran second to  Queen's kiss  over 1200 mts,running

Bangalore selections and analysis 27/07

Race no 1: A race for class V horses over 1200 mts On the outset this race looks extremely tricky thanks to the the form? of the runners in this race.  Mountain Train which runs after a long lay-off after its winter adventure looks like a contender here purely based on its track form,but as always its a lottery to assume if the horse after a lay off can put up a winning gallop just after returning or will it need this run? But it is prepared extensively ignore at will That brings me back to two horses which have relatively good form in Will still and Star of desire ,both have reasonable form and the latter a demotee with a switch in jockey has come down a lot in ratings  My choice:#1 Star of Desire for Win  Race no 2:A race for Class V horses over 1200 mts Upper division of the previous race,the field is comprised of many youngsters,here too form is not seen in plenty  Rubi Rey ,which ran in the upper class finished fourth to My Faviurite voice, now drops down in grade with a chance in
