Indian Derby Day 05-02-2017
Hello Friends,
Looking forward to the biggest race of the racing season all Winter it is the day of the Indian Derby,here are my views for the day
Race 1:A race with dilemmic proportions for me to choose,we have in here three runners who run with a chance but it is anybody's race,Serinita ofcourse is the cynosure of all in here and the horse has a good record to match it up with then there is Shivalik Shine who has this habit of missing the break yet has a good flourish to make a race out of it despite the jockey change and then there is Undisputed who ha been on board twice this season and has a jockey who has a good partnership with this horse and this being a race over a sprint and hoping that there is good strong pace at the front Shivalik Shine may be the horse with a real chance given the race unfolds to its liking and is my personal fancy to open the day
My Choice:#1 Shivalik Beauty Win
Race 2:Boring affair,dont even know where are the other milers to compete here.
Race 3:If you ask me this race is purely between these two,Sovereignsky and His Masters Vice for obvious reasons as jockey switches and age,between them I think His Masters Vice has it in him to do the trick going by the way he is being prepped for this race
My Choice:#7 His Masters Vice Win
Race 4:A million race for horses in the lower class.Astara,Firenze,Brazos are the three horses in my radar,not that others dont a chance but these three appeal in what is an open affair,amongst them I think Brazos who finished second in the higher class and on demotion with a switch in jockey is where the value is.
My Choice:#4 Brazos Win/Place
Race 5:Perfect Star was made to ride wide and lost out by a nost finishing on well in its last start and with a decent dam who threw a classic winner in Equine Lover he is a major player in this race,the same can be said of Zanara who finished on well too and now has a greater switch in jockey and between them I opt for the former just for the bloodlines.
My Choice:#7 Perfect Star Win
Race 6:Nothing much to read into this race as majority of the field compromises of the unknowns and I feel the winner would make a smashing debut,Gallant Knight,Benefactor and Caprisca being my shortlisted horses and amongst them the draw the jockey and the preperations favour Benefactor and is my personal fancy here
My Choice:#2 Benefactor Win
Race 7:A hell of a race in the offing as the derby doesnt have a superstar like Be Safe walking into the derby,most of the horses have been winners and losers and that makes this race ironically as one of the competitive in the recent years.Temerity has been defying my belief run after run and proving out to be a sturdy animal but then it has its own temper and that is a negative,Sergant At Arms has it all going out for him if this race is all about class and form and will be looking to emulate Be Safe and Alaindiar for a Bangalore Summer Derby to Winter Derby double and is a major player here no wonder he is the crowd favourite and then there is Hall of Famer who literally smashed the field at calcutta and is from a trainer who knows how to win big races and keep the form going,Salazar should be respected as it is opted over the eye catching Bangalore Winter derby winner in Tororosso and then there is Mathaiyus waiting to showoff in the highest class from a trainer who really knows what he is doing.... Supreme Geneal and Mrs Patmore being the joker in the pack.... one fascinating race it must be and where to put the money? it is where the heart would be and for me it is with Hall of Famer
My Choice:#10 Hall of Famer Win
Race 8:Magical Memory ran a decent but unlucky race last time out losing out to Alishas Pet and with a simolar field this time should be in the hunt,Shaoqing is unbeaten over this trip so far and with the pull in weights should run a bold race here there is Benezer who is also coming out of a good race and in the hunt here along with Double Nine who has jockey in form and with two good runs over 5f in this class may look to exploit the pull in weights.My choice is Benezer as it has been working quite well and is tuned well to make a race of it here.
