Selections and analysis for Wednesday's Bangalore races (24/07/2013)
Hello Friends,
On the outset let me tell you a very tricky affair of 9 races are on the cards tomorrow, the feature being the Classic for 4 yo horses the St.Leger.
Race no 1:A race for horses in class IV (4yo +) Over 1200 mts
Ice Kingdom:This horse has a run this season where it finished 1/2 a length behind One from a billion, penalised 5 points for that effort,a positive jockey switch from Vinod Shinde to Suraj Nattedu is noted.
See You Later:Ran in the same race as Ice Kingdom,2 1/2 lengths behind it,remains in the same rating as last time but now gets a full jockey P.S.Chouhan in place of a claimer last time
Well known, has three runs this season, finished third in its first run,its last run however in open age group where it finished behind Supreme Regime is a notable effort, has the services of veteran Jockey A.Imran Khan
Serengiti, has three runs this season wherein its last run was not good, previously ran a good fourth to Windwonder, jockey Vivek on the saddle
In my opinion this race is a straight match between the top weighted two horses,Ice Kingdom's saddle slipped in the last run and thus its 1/2 length defeat in the last race can be overlooked, but I feel See You Later has a good chance here because of the following reasons
I)A change in jockey to P.S.Chouhan
II)Vis-a-Vis ratings to Ice kingdom looks like in its favour and
III)Change of shoes from steel to Aluminum
Thus I think a bet on it is justifiable
My choice:#2 See you later for win
Race no 2:A race for 3 yo maidens over 1200 mts
Castle Stuart:Ran fifth to Rumour Has It on debut, had some supporters that day.Form line holds good,John astride
Artesia:Fourth to Light of succes on debut during Bangalore Winter, now runs here after 6 months,Neeraj Rawal astride
Feet on fire:After two runs in Bangalore winter, ran a good second to Ultrasonic,Imran Chisty astride
Consquistador which is bred in full to Classic winner Jersey Girl and Holding court's Progeny King of the court are the two debutants here
Thus a very closely matched race this, but my choice here is Artesia,it has a benifit of a run and as the only progeny of the freshman star stallion Multidimensional, whose progenies have taken a liking to the track and conditions
My choice:#7 Artesia for Win
Race no 3:A Class V race over 1400 mts
A field of 13 runners for this race, where in a good number of 3 yo's are in the fray,as is the norm one must logically look at the 3 yo's in this.
Of the 3 Yo's Irish Song Stands out as it has run decently coupled with a positive switch in jockey
From the older lot of horses Nations's Glory after having nearly ten starts and three seconds to its name can upset.I will restrict myself to watching this race but for academic interest I would suggest a win bet on Irish song
My choice:#3 Irish Song for Win
Race no 4:A handicap race for horses in class IV over 1800 mts
This race has a field of 7 3 year old horses running against each other,of the seven horses Noble reward, who is the only horse to travel this distance before where it went down to Mars gets a change in jockey from Neeraj Rawal to Suraj Narredu here.
Bronzino which ran fourth behind Gerome in its last run now steps up in distance and goes out with the same jockey P.S.Chouhan,sports Blinkers On
Authentic Stride and Winged foot are progenies of Multidimensional but I personally don't fancy them here
My understanding of this race is a bit complex to explain,as my fancy here is Bronzino, the last run of Bronzino was an eye-catching effort, the start was a bit slow and it was kept on the tail of the field and it came with a good run in the straight to end fourth to Gerome, thus here the step up in distance must suit this horse better thus a justifiable bet here
My choice:#2 Bronzino for Win
Race no 5:A class IV Race (4 yo+) over 1400 mts
This race has Trust me boy which went down to Volans (also runs here) as a piping hot favourite last time around along with the third placed Wrekin in the same race
Firelight who finished fourth behind Spiritual star in the upper class also drops down here
Volans, which went up in grade and finished second also drops down to its winning class with a change in jockey to Trevor Patel
Yet the failed favourite last time out Trust me boy and Wrekin have a good chance here,my vote here goes to the former, tracking well last run shaped like a winner so giving another chance
My choice:#2 Trust Me Boy for win
Race no 7:A race Class I horses over 1200 mts
This race on paper and recent form looks to be between Sprint Star,Secret Punch,Cape ferrat and Esteban
Yet horses like Silken touch and Quick Enough cannot be written off very easily.
Sprint Star ran fourth to Sovetskaya over a similar trip before a couple of weeks, the ratings have gone down by two points finished 2.5 lts behind the winner
Secret Punch on the otherhand finished third in the very same race and the ratings remain the same, same jockey astride
Cape Ferrat after finishing a good second to successor in its very first run ran over a 1400 m race in its last start and finished among the ruck, the prescence of John makes it a good chance here
Esteban is in raging form here after two back to back wins it has now climbed up in ratings and has a jockey switch to Zervan here
My choice here is Sprint Star, yes it is giving weight all around but still this 7 yo horse has the class amongst em all to pull this off,his first in this season was decent enough and hoping that it should improve upon that effort
My choice:#1 Sprint Star for Win
Race no 8:A race for class IV horses (4yo+) over 1400 mts
Blue Star after running sixth to One from a billion in its previous start goes with a jockey switch to Imran Chisty and a drop in rating by 2 points
Talita's girl after putting up a winning performance in its last start as an odds on fav, goes out again with the same jockey but with a step up in distance, penalised 4 points for its last effort
Honourable Empress just prevailed by a Snk during its victory last time out in the lower class,up by 9 points in ratings and on promotion here with same jockey A.Ramu astride
One From A Billion had won a race in the same class same distance in last but one run, after that ran fifth to Volans now with a drop of 1 point in rating and jockey change to Selvaraj
Alpine Shine which won a race over 6 f during its first run this season ran over ten lengths behind Queen of the stars in open age company, now sitting prettily here on weights
This race on paper seems like a formality for Talita's girl but Blue Star is no pushover, after finishing a good 4.5 lts behind winner last time out and with a positive change in jockey worth taking a chance here
My choice:#2 Blue Star for Win
Race no 9:A class II race (4yo+) over 1200 mts
Will star after starting this season with a win found Esteban too hot to handle in its next 2 starts, now with a claimer jockey atop runs with a good chance here
Ice lander ran second to Brabus speed as a fav, penalised again and goes out with the same jockey Suraj again
Real steel is a winner last time out with the same jockey astride who is riding today
Sun Divine who ran third to Real Steel in its last outing goes out with a chance in jockey to P.S.Chouhan from a claimer
Flying Tricolor who also finished as a winner last time out goes out with a claimer now after being penalised 13 points for that effort
Nessie which ran 4 lts behind the winner last time out looks like a good outsider here at this weights
I am going to put my money on Sun divine here as its last run according to me in hands of the claimer was a good effort, now with a top jockey in the saddle deserves a look here, but the on money fav ice landed may prove to be a hard nut to crack this time around yet am taking my own chances with Sun divine
My choice:#5 Sun divine
Days Best:Sprint Star
Double:Artesia to Bronzino
Deat sirocaa fire engine got a chance for staying trip
