Comments and Selections for Bangalore Races 23/07/2013

Hello friends, 

                   A card of eight races was originally framed for Saturday but because of rains races were postponed to Tuesday,seems like a good card on the outset. 

Race no 1 

              A class V race over 1200 mts for horses 4 yo and over,a typical race to start the day with but still looks a good race on paper 

Towers of Hanoi:This Babu Rao trained horse has had four runs in this season and the most notable run is its last run where it finished third to Chronicle over 1400m,here it drops down in class and distance,change of jockey from M.Rajeshkumar to G.Y.Rajesh Babu

Volt:This horse trained by Arjun Manglorkar has three runs this season with finished on the place money all the three times,ran behind The Scientist over the same trip in same class in its last run,Trainer-jockey combination of ARJUN MANGLORKAR AND JOHN is quite a successful one

Astonishing:This Inayathullah trained horse has three runs and placed in the money on two occasions,it had run reasonably closer to the winner on all the three occasions,this horse now goes out with veteran jockey A.Imran Khan in the saddle 

Absolut Chiqui:This Puttana trainee has had only one run this season,and finished a good third in that run over the same trip to Arthur,will be partnered by the same jockey A.Ashok Kumar

Demand Draft:This PRITHVIRAJ trainee has won its last race with Christopher aboard and now goes out with P.S.Chouhan,penalised 10 points for its last effort 

Burden of lady:this Sharatkumar trainee also won its last start,goes out with a jockey change in H.G.Rathod 

The Gentle Don:this horse had two runs this season preceded by a long lay off,had placed in its two starts but not too convincingly,this Amit Caddy trainee now goes out with a switch in jockey from A.Ramu to Suraj Narredu

This friends although a class V race,looks like wide open thanks to most of the contenders having form,my vote here goes to Astonishing as it has three runs this runs where in it ran close to the winner,goes out with a veteran jockey and not to forget tracking well too,The Gentle don looks a danger only because of the switch in jockey and also had a forward race last time out over 1400 mts the drop in distance may suit,The Volt which ran second to The Scientist cannot be neglected too 

Thus in my opinion Astonishing holds a slight edge here and does it justify a bet? In my opinion it is worth taking a chance if odds are favourable 

MY CHOICE: #3 Astonishing for win

RACE NO 2  

               A race for horses in Class IV over 1200 mts 

Nocturnal Hunter which has had three runs in the current season now gets a change in jockey to P.S.Chouhan,this horse had finished third to Triumphant on the colts classic day,last time out it ran fourth when it failed to quicken in the straight although was kept in a challenging position by the jockey 

sweet angel runs its third run in this season here after running two decent runs,it has the services of Imran Chisty now and has a very decent form line 

Oriental King is a 3 yo horse which had run on four occasions this season and now opts for a claimer,my interest is to watch how this horse fares here 

Golden princess from the Goldie-Brown stable has has four run in its career so far,the most impressive being its fourth to Mint Approach,where in it finished just a shade under two lengths from the winner. The same race also had the eventual Bangalore Summer Derby winner in Alaindair, now runs in class IV. Although Falco Nero has vanquished the argument of stating that it had finished behind Alaindair at Pune,I have reasons to believe that this horse has a very good chance here 

The reasons are that it runs here after having a benifit of run where it ran almost over 10 lengths behind Charlartan in maiden class,Charlartan also finished a good third in the Bangalore Summer Derby. Also the field here looks a tad inferior to the horses with which it matched strides and also the fact that stable jockey B.Sreekant is astride this horse 

My Choice:#10 Golden Princess for Win 

RACE NO 3:

                This is a race for horses in class V over 1200 mts 4 yo and over 

Fire storm is a horse which has placed on the board in its last two runs in the higher class,has P.S.Chouhan in the saddle again

Arjun Manglorkar trained Afrikah is running for the first time this season and with a claimer on top its chances look rosy,working well in the tracks with stablemate Wrekin 

Dominator who has run with good company runs after a long lay off,my interest is to watch its run this time for future reference

Impressive Attidtude Shared Heart and The Jaguar have all run this season with the former winning once,among the three the latter has the pull in weights in its favour 

My reading of this race is very simple,they all have to beat Fire Strom which has run a good third in its last run in the upper class,now in this class it won't prolong its stay so with ace jockey P.S.Chouhan and the competiton taken into account, my money will be on this horse for the prime spot 

My Choice:#1 Fire Storm for Win 

Race no 4

               A race for horses in class III over 1400 mts 

Chiron,makes a comeback to the track after its classic sting where it ran behind Simply stylish and Tintinnabulation respectively during winter,A.Imran Khan will ride this horse 

The ever consistent Mi Amor,also a contender here and with the reigning saddle champion atop one can't write it off 

But a string of 3 yo youngsters are sitting merrily down the scales in this race, 3 Mumbai based horses and a Hyderbad based horse will take on a Bangalore based youngster here 

To the manor born,is running for the first time at the Bangalore track, a winner over 1000 mts at Mumbai the step up in distance in an uphill and testing track like Bangalore for the first time after a lay-off gives me a reason to discount this horse for now 

Majestic reward,also a winner on debut but on this same track with Ashad Asbar is now running with a switch in jockey to S.Zervan,also goes up in trip by 200 mts 

Roses in bloom was a failed fav last time out in class IV,when it finished third to Salzburg over 1200 mts,sports blinkers for the first time and has a change in jockey to Ch.K.Charry

Stimulate,which won its very first race this season over the same trip beating the eventual classic placed beauty is truth failed to impress in its next race in a handicap class IV race where it went down to Gerome. Gerome incidentally ran the derby also the horse that finished second Strike the stars also won a race in its next start 

Bright lady which is the most experienced of all the youngsters here had won a 1400 m race to shed its maiden status at Mumabi. Now it goes over its pet trip with Fr.Da.Silva to guide its fortunes. 

In what seems like a race with nearly 5-7 genuine contenders on paper with another 8 horses to upset I would like to put my neck out and support a horse here 

MAJESTIC REWARD which won its first race in a commanding fashion suggests that its style of running may suit this longer trip and also the very fact that it has a switch in jockey to Zervan makes me believe that this horse can pull this race off

My Choice:#10 Majestic Reward for WIN 

RACE NO 5

                 Terms race for Maiden horses 3 yo only over a trip of 1100 mts 

Aryan Warrior and Bala's Glory are two progenies of the stallion Senure which throws our good speedy kinda horses. The former looks good going by its tracks and jockey support 

Blackbird which runs for the first time this season had finished third in its last run during Mys winter,will have the services of Suraj Narredu 

Mantra which ran second to the shocking winner My Lakshmi during its first run of the season now drops down by 100 mts in distance and has the services of P.S.Chouhan 

Spirit is a progeny of Phoenix tower,yet hasn't shown any form in its last runs,may need this run inspite of having a jockey like Trevor Patel on top 

The speedy MANTRA which has had a forward run last time out should score over this trip,BLACKBIRD which runs after a layoff and ARYAN WARRIOR which has the bloodlines are my alternate choices 

MY CHOICE:#5 Mantra for win 

Race no 6 

              A race for Class III horses 4 yo and over,distance 1200 mts 

Impressive Bolt ran a good sixth 5 lts behind the winner in the upper class,earlier ran 2nd to young Cristoffe over the same trip as this race. Imran Chisty will guide the fortunes of this horse 

Clever trick which has run a close fifth to Esteban in the upper class has now dropped down in class and also has a claimer in Shahnawaz (-3 kgs) on board 

Divine deliverance which won a race in its last start over the same trip has been penalised 12 points, Prabakaran who is a claimer of 4 kgs has been entrusted to ride this horse and also ease the penalty levied on it by the handicapper 

Pack ur bags has been a consistent performer during Winter season but now it has run 10 lts behind the winner in its last start,now with a change in jockey to Suraj Narredu 

Bala's Glory is a horse that is tracking well on the track,no reasonable form but yet tracks are impressive

The muse ran second in its last run and now on promotion with a change in jockey to Harish,can it win in this class is the ? 

Well almost all the horses which look like contenders are ridden by Imran Chisty in their last run,although there is enough reason to believe the top weighted Impressive Bolt has credentials to win a closer look reveals that Clever Trick with Shahnawaz (who has won races this season) looks like a threat to all here 

MY CHOICE:#3 Clever Trick for an e/w bet 

Race no 7 

              A race for horses in class IV over a distance of 1200 mts 

Rumour has it had won its last start in a start to finish attempt and with the same jockey aboard,chances look rosy 

Whimsical,which had run third in its only start this season to Ayrton 

Appys Pride which also ran in the same race as Whimsical has the weights slightly tilted in its favour now also add to the fact that there is a positive change in shoes coupled with positive change in jockey 

In my opinion this race is between these 3 yo horses barring any upsets,the form line of both Whimsical and Appy's Pride holds good thanks to Racing Ahead's win on pre derby day although Ayrton failed to  repeat, the weight and also a positive change in jockey makes me believe that Appys Pride has all the positives to win this one 

My choice:#10 Appys Pride for Win 

Race no 8

               A race for horses in class III,4 yo and over. 1200 mts 

Scenic Blast has no form to go by but is a danger looming large when the jockey assigned is John on a top weighted horse,keep an eye

Smithsonite had a runaway victory over the same trip a couple of weeks ago,14 points penalty has been laid on this horse for that effort 

Simpleton which had a decent winter season is now getting back to racing,with Imran Chisty atop one can't write this horse off in a hurry. The trainer Warren Singh has opted for steel shoes 

Sukhmanee,after starting this season on a winning note had finished a tame fourth to Absolute majority,now goes oh with Fr.Da.Silva 

Abbas Dreams finished a faraway fourth to Smithsonite in its last run,jockey hasn't been declared yet now has the weights tilted by 7 kgs, have to see what kind of a jockey the trainer opts for 

But in my opinion the last win of Smithsonite was in a stunning fashion and although penalised for that effort has a good scope to repeat in this set
