Third during its last run in Pune in upper class should be in the hunt  Shygirl-winner of a handicap million during last season in

Bangalore Derby Day 26/01/15 Analysis and Selections

RACE 1:For class IV horses over 1200 m (Div.II) Three horses strike right away in this race, Hidden Hero  who despite its age appeals first because of its good last run and the fact that there is switch in saddle support to  Vaibhav  from a claimer and as such that's a positive switch.......  Alecia  who is now the beneficiary of a change in jockey to the man in good form  Trevor Patel, has all the positives coming into this race, positive change in the jockey, good form and also an youngster thus merits strong consideration  Celestial Storm, thanks to its win over a slightly longer trip in the lower class followed by two not so-bad runs in this very class coupled by a switch in jockey now warrants all the attention  The presence of horses such as  Allez Royale  along with two new entities makes this race an interesting one  The last run of  Hidden Hero  makes it quite a good contender in this race, with a change in jockey and an inner draw on the classic day makes him my choice for t

The Indian Champion Cup (Gr.I)

Hello Friends,                       The Indian Champions Trophy has a good decent field with multiple graded winners in the fray which makes it a good race to start off the next four days of hectic racing.........  SNOWDRIFT ,the winner of the Calcutta winter derby 2014 faced older horses which is akin to the Eclipse Stakes run both in Britain and India and faced defeat, now that it is in blazing form on its return to Calcutta after a brief stint at Bangalore,is the main contender for this race   OCEANANDBEYOND which is the winner last year has been on the slump since, however as terms are in favour one cannot ignore it  Although there are classic winners in the fray in malpensa and Striking one   has to take a look at the multiple graded winner in Circle of bliss who but for her last run was in a good vein of form and now with that run behind her back in this centre and a change in jockey is the one that can topple the local hero and as su

The Viloo Poonawalla Indian Oaks (Gr.1) and Analysis of the days card

Hello Friends,                      The Mumbai Winter season is on full swing, thus comes the Ladies day with the running of the third Indian classic for the 2014/2015 classic crop....... Ten horses have accepted to run over this trip of 12 furlongs and here is my take of the race.........  Here is the list of the winners of the last five renewals of this very race  2014-Isn't She Special (Indian 1000 guineas-6th)  2013-Maple Star (Indian 1000 guineas-7th)  2012-Smashing (Indian 1000 guineas-5th)  2011-Moonlight Romance (Indain 1000 guineas-2nd)  2010-Jacqueline (Indian 1000 guineas-winner)  It is quite obvious that all the five horses that have won the Indian Oaks in the last five years have had a run in the Indian 1000 guineas, thus Pesi Shroff's ward has rather taken an unconventional route to take part in this race having raced and won the Oaks at Calcutta, taking part in the Indian edition of the race  It is one thing to stick with history and another thing to realise that wi

B'lore 17/01/15 Analysis and Selections

Hello Friends,                        The Saturdays card looks to be both well filled and highly competitive, here are my analysis followed by personal fancies of the same  RACE 1:For maiden 3 yo over 1100 mts  Four out if the eleven horses have a run benifit,of whom two are going for negative equipment and the other two don't seem to be having any positivity around them  Thus one has to go for the debutants in this race.......  Amazing Charm  strikes right away thanks to being bred in half to the indomitable  Amaizng Grace ....... Has a gate jump to its credit and one should hope its bloodlines carry it through. May have needed a bit longer  Talking about speedy horses,re progenies of  Phoenix Tower  should always be considered, Skyfullofstars  fits the bill, keep an eye  But on preperation alone no horse is as good as  Nostalgic Memories, this daughter of Arazan is also bred reasonably well and has been in the tracks for quite sometime now, with a good jockey aboard and coming out f

B'lore 16/01/15 Analysis and Selections

Hello Friends,                        Three days of action packed racing in Bangalore and Mumbai awaits us this week, here is my analysis and personal fancies for the B'lore card on Friday  Race 1:For class IV horses over 1200 mts (6yo+)  NOTE:WHIPS NOT ALLOWED  Better Than Ever  has a positive change in equipment coming into this race, has been trusted to the claimer again and has put up a decent spurt thus is one of the main contenders in this race  Imperial Verse  has  David Allan  in the saddle, last run was decent enough and now with the change in saddle support and  a run benifit cannot be overlooked in this race  Then there is the duo of  Union Jack  who also has a run benefit this season and a very decent run that, thus it has to be taken seriously here and  Fortunate One  has been on the up and is a formidable contender in this race  The likes of  Ice Pick Willie  and  Midtown Delight  add more competitiveness to this race  In my view, Union Jack,Better Than Ever  and  Fortuna
